Gas smell in car...

hey guys in my car it really smells like gas sometimes.

Only smells like gas with the windows down.

Windows up it does not smell like gas.


I do have an exhaust leak at the flex would this cause the gas smell with windows down ?

You're leaking exhaust gas from your flex pipe, which in turn, will allow you to smell all of that unburned exhaust.

The first step in solving you problem would be to fix the exhaust leak which most likely is the cause of the fumes. if it still continues to smell like gas check the fuel lines especially fittings such as on the fuel rail and fuel filter.

And for OP :

Get that leak fixed and if you're still smelling it then you likely have an exhaust leak at your exhaust manifold Pre-02 sensor. This would cause, not only a Rich condition, but will kill performance and you WILL smell the fuel from this.
