Gas door latch problem??

Hey guys, I got a 98 GST Spyder and noticed a problem with my gas door. The damn thing won't stay closed!! I already noticed that the spring inside the door is missing so i'll be ordering one first thing Monday morning but what seems to be the problem is that the "pin" that sticks out to lock the door closed seems to be stuck in so no matter what the door won't lock shut. Ive tried pulling the lever and messing with the pin (which I can see is stuck in but won't pop out) to see if I could get it to pop out but nothing. Any idea what I have to do to fix this or what the problem is?

Best Fix: Go to junkyard and get whole assembly easier to change then fix the pin
Easy Fix: Get a rare earth magent stick it next the filler hose and let the magnet hold it shut

Jeez, get a new clip. It is less than a dollar at the dealership.

I already said I knew my clip was broken but THATS NOT MY PROBLEM...read the original post please...thanks for the advice about the junkyard that's a really good idea so I'm gonna have to start looking around
