GAS CAP CEL... Can I just disconnect anything?

I have tried some different things new cap re set system, nothing is working. Is there just something I can unhook...maybe a wire near the cap? This is killing me, I need to get inspected. Any suggestions on what to check/lookfor or at. Thanks

Oh, sorry i was talking about pressurized fumes when opening the gas fill cap.
Not that i don't get fuel pressure, sorry about that.

When i open the cap i don't get the pssshhhhh from long ago and i smell gas sometimes out of the car but it doesn't leak gas.

I'll investigate further more.

Oh OK..here make sure the fuel pump assembly is sealed then to the top of the tank.

Alright guys...new gas cap ( brand new )...same problem...How likly is it that my Evap and EGR soleniods went out or one of them atleast? I have 190,000 on the odo.

Im also beginning to think since I put in the ecu and the second I started the car I had the code...that it might be just that...the ECU. What are you thoughts? Thanks guys.

you mention that you swap the ecu out and this problem started to happen why not try to swap out the ecu and see if there is still the problem..

i see above that luv2rallye post the article quick question did you fill up gas before this problem happen?? I know on my sister's honda civic the gas cap wasn't on tight check engine light came on from that. Try to drive it around for like 2-3 days and see if it will go away another way you could reset the ecu is unplug the batter for like 5-10 min see if that helps.

I have reset the system with every try and nothing keeps it off. I have a thread over in my region about borrowing someones ecu for a test run...I really believe now it is the ECU.

I didnt get a code with link OR with my 96 ECU...put in the 98 and as soon as I fired it up the CEL came on. Im going to swap out ECU's if I can find one locally...if not Ill end up picking up an Eprom I guess.

I think you're right about the ecu.

yep fired it up, idled and then cel. Im goin to try another ecu I just have to find one. Ill let you guys know.
