I have a re-manned head that was bought from a private party from an abandoned project. Has a casting number of G6K 2. Which research shows is a 2.4 SOHC head. Well, this one definitely has two cams in it.

We installed this head on a 1g dirt track racecar, with a 6-bolt n/a motor. Now there's some issues with getting it running right. Seems to have a massive vacuum leak or problem with cam timing (timing is perfect according to marks).

Does anyone know if this head can be used? Could the intake possibly not match up and cause a vacuum leak? Are the timing marks different for these cams?

It's a 2G head from a 2.0L DOHC turbo car, not a 2.4L SOHC.

It can be used and not having the matching intake, while less than an ideal setup, will not create a vacuum leak.

Smoke tested the motor, found major leaks at the bottom of the intake manifold. The ports are much smaller on the head than the intake and since the gasket was for that head, there was a gap at the bottom of each runner. Looks like a 1g intake gasket will fix the leaks, but it's such a large transition from intake to head that I'm unsure of it. Seems like a good way to lose performance. I guess options are, port the head, match up an intake to this head, or find a 1g head.

Paul's right. The "best" solution is to use the intake that matches the head.

As I stated, using the mismatched intake manifold in this case will not cause a vacuum leak. The wrong gasket certainly would. Glad you got it figured out.

Get a EVO III intake mani even better than the 2g mani with the same port size.

You can find them on ebay for under $200 shipped.

Worried about power? I went 130.75 in the 1/4 in a full weight (3395lbs) car with this intake.
