I don't know where to post thiss but I'm posting this here because you won't need to know this until you have a problem with your throttle position sensor...
My TPS went out a few days back and I went to Autozone today to get a new one... (Advance wants $160 for it and The dealer wants $285 for it!!! . . . ANd i had to wait o week for both to be delivered)... Autozone only wanted $52 and they had it in stock...
So they bring it out to me and it IS NOT the TPS on my car... at all not even close... They laugh at me and say that I must have the 2.4 engine or something (even if I were wrong about my engine I have a frickin' 1G ). So I go home and drive in with my car and take my tps off in front of them making a point to show them the valve cover under my hood. They say that my TPS does not look like what they have in stock. so they get the book out and find that the part number for the TPS they have in stock is mismatched with a 1.8L. Then I laughed and and said maybe you have your little numbers wrong on your computer or something
So for any one who is getting a TPS from Autozone the correct part number is TPS4075... They have it in the system for a 1.8L engine... It is a product manufactured by Wells.
Why would you not just go to Advance since they have the correct part number? Because Autozone onely wants $124.99 for the part. Advance wants $40 more and the dealer wanted $160 more!!! FOR A FRICKIN' POTENTIOMETER!!!
EDIT: heres another thread denoting the same problem:

no bashing please
yeah your probably right usually if you know to much you dont get hired. but i got hired cause they had a crap load of tuners come and ask questions about parts and their cars because funny enough i would go there alot since i live buy it like a 2 minute walk away and people would think i worked there so they hired me to deal with them. but yeah parts dont match all the time i have to check my brake pads cause we have like 3 different shapes of pads for eclipse front brakes. so they should take the part out the box and ask you is this what your looking for to confirm. if not its just shitty customer service. its not our fault the manufacture listed the parts wrong you know. but on that note TPS is expensive i my self looked them up on our computer an they are like 150 and up and its just a potentiometer. hell i can make my own for 20 bucks at radio shack hey it would look ugly but if it worked i wouldnt care
