I was wondering if anyone had seen or is currently using the dsm datalogger that is sold at Autozone? I just started working at an Autozone here in Texas and we sell one that plugs into the OBD 2 port and then you plug it into your computer. What I was wondering is if you can use a laptop and log while driving? Brian

If its that car chip thing I made a post about this a couple weeks back and everyone concluded that it was a last resort and not very useful. The sampling rate/resolution is extremely slow (1 sample every 5 seconds, it should be more like 5 samples a second) and that makes it pretty much useless of tuning. But if you want something to play around with....

today at work i did some more research on it and came to the conclusion that its not worth the 100 dollars. it doesnt count knock. the next question is, can i use the datalogger cable and hook it up to a laptop? i dont want to use one of those rinky dink palm craps. i have a really nice laptop that i will be using for my dsmlink in the future but for right now i am going to buy a translator and tune with that for now. anyone have any answers? brian

If you're refering to pocketlogger I believe the software is only made for PDA's. From what I've read everyone is very happy with using a PDA's for logging. Why take up the entire passenger seat with a notebook when you could just use a calculator sized PDA? Where's your g/f gona sit? ;) :p

She'll have to sit in the back. LOL ;) I would just like to see what i am logging on something bigger than a little PDA.

And no logger is going to count knock on a 2G, since our (stock) ECU doesn't output knock count. We tune by watching the timing curve -- if timing is being pulled, you're knocking.
