Hi there. I am wondering if anyone can help me. I am trying to install a lsd into a Mitsubishi Cordia. Now I have a lsd that fits into the gearbox, but unfortunately my standard driveshafts dont fit the lsd. My standard driveshafts (halfshafts) are a 25 spline unit where the inner cv goes into the gearbox, but my lsd diff accepts a 27 spline driveshaft. So my question is, what is the number of splines and thickness of your fwd driveshaft where it goes into the gearbox. I am looking for something to mix and match to suit my application. Thanks.

Your probably better off going to a drive shaft shop and they can look up the spline count/size and tell you what you want.

hmmm, yeah that is a really good question. But not one that very many people would be able to answer. A transmission or specialty shop would be best for that. The only thing I know about the driveshafts is that the FWD and AWD Driveshafts should be the same in the front on 1g dsms. Someone please let me know if that is not the case, as it might be.

The 27 spline shaft should be able to be attained. Call a dsm transmission builder and ask them about the axle for the awd for a switchable transmission for an awd that had a 3.909 front differential and it should be the spline that you are looking for. As far as the cordia is concerned you should be able to get away with the awd axle conversion like on the fwd dsms as the cordia has a similar design. I have not heard of many people doing this with the diff but this should definately get you in the right direction. good luck

Ok, thanks a lot for that. That really helps, I will have to look into that. I am not doing an AWD conversion to my car yet though. I am just adding an AWD cv shaft to the front because I got one from my friend for free. And, I was pretty sure that the front drive shafts were the same on both the AWD and FWD 1g Talons. I sure hope they are :talon:

Thanks for your replies. I am halfway there. I have used an inner cv joint from a Magna/Diamante and that works. The other side is slightly trickier though as I need a cv joint with a 27 spline into the gearbox but 23 splines going into the cv.
