Hey guys I am currently in the middle of building a FWD turbo eclipse. It was originally a n/t 2.0 and i keep having people tell me fwd dsm's are junk and cant be built, so i wanted to prove them wrong. I dropped in a 6-bolt with stock 1g rods with evo8 pistons on them for an 8.8 compression. New bearings water pump and such. I have a total of $1,600 into this car including buying it. I have a big16g, an evo8 fmic, stock injectors, MAFT, ported manifold and such, stock 1g awd down pipe to stock exhaust (cat back). Walbro 255 installed with -6 fuel line tank to filter, new valve guide seals, and thats about it. I am wondering what you guys think i should do, or where i should go from here. I have 450 miles on the motor right now holding at 10lbs for break in purposes. As suspected the tranny is garbage but its a dsm what do u expect. I also have a act 2600 clutch as well. So any feedback from here would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance :dsm:

On another forum I'm on people always talk about garrett turbos, I can't remember what model, but they say it's HKS quality but less price..

I'll try and find out the model they all talk about though.

Oh really? Like what? Which one would you suggest?

Nick: What about LSD?

ya i was thinking about that but i will prob do that once i get my tranny worked on because right now its garbage. As far as turbos my 16g has shaft play right now so i'm in the market for a new turbo and i have tons of performance parts for trade so i dunno what i'm gonna do..

DSMlink and PTE 780s (I think...) It's not in yet, I'm still working (just starting) on the 6 bolt swap. But as soon as I get it all together I can let you know, probably won't be for a while though. I have to pay off my school first.

Also a wal 255 & FTS AFPR

Well never mind i just smoked the oil pump in it. So if anyone is interested i will sell for 2200$ with a new oil pump for it..

i was going to do solid motor mounts in the front and back and poly in the left and right and as far as my suspension is concerned my buddy is getting rid of his agx's so i might snag those for the fronts because his is awd. other than that bushings are not on my list just yet..

Found these doing a search for you, not sure if they will fit being's they are for a automatic, but maybe someone who knows can chime in, I would think these are the type you'd want...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DSM-...474QQitemZ180099024423QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

For a front wheel drive, get the motor mounts, suspension, and good tires and lsd ( A real lsd not the inserts that destroy trannys ) and you should be good. I only have traction issues in first so far unless im purposely trying to break traction.

Also get some fuel tuning, and bigger injectors asap ( unless you already have this) because the stock 450s are likely to max out at around 15psi on that 16g you have especially if you dont have a upgraded fuel pump. Also keep this in mind, you weigh like 300 lbs less than a awd, and if your like me you couldve already taken like an extra 300 more lbs off the car so thats like 600 less than a stock weight awd 1g, and even more on a awd 2g. You may still have trouble off the dig, but i think fwd have better gear ratios and with enough power/traction by 3rd gear you should make up for it :thumb:

im driving a 1990 eagle talon tsi turbo fwd, and if you ask me, they are better then awd, awd might beet you off the line but you will have no problem keeping up at all, mines all stock and i still beet bran new mustangs and shit like that.

I have a fwd with b16g, jdm swap, slowboy lsd, act 2100 clutch, flywheel, poly motor mounts, a few other little things (check profile). The lsd insert has held up well for 20,000+ miles and it helped alot. It is not as good as a real lsd but if your on a budget its worth it to help out. Im on stock suspension and have no wheel hop problems, just torque steer ;) 1st gear is almost non-existint so i give it about 70% throttle just to get goin without just roasting the hell out of the tires, 2nd gear full throttle the tires roast as soon as boost hits but then it gets traction and pulls hard, shift into 3rd and chirp the tires and its nothing but a hard pull from there on up. If your a good driver you should have no problem getting a good run in. Of course an awd launching at high rpms is going to kill you off the line, keep it cool and you'll catch em. I have beaten many cars that i shouldnt of been able to beat just because they didnt know how to drive. I would also do a large weight reduction. Dropping the weight of our fwds to 2,300-2,400lbs is relatively easy. If you really want to kick some ass get some slicks and lightweight wheels. Im doing the same thing you are, i've been told fwd's suck get an awd plenty of times, but everyone is really impressed when i give them a ride or smoke their car. Kinda helps with the whole underdog/sleeper kind of thing. :dsm: :talon: :laser:

i agree with this post,
im working on getting my car in the 2400 lbs area. Im at about approx 2515 now and
the weight difference is huge compared to a stock weight awd car.
Plus with the gearing, an equivilent powered awd vehicle wont keep up with you on the highway.
