I've run into a roadblock during my clutch replacement. I can't get the axles out of the transmission! I have them out of the hubs hanging there and I tried a pry bar and everything and they just won't budge. :banghead:! Both sides are in there as if it was one giant axle, that's how hard it is to make them budge!

If anyone has a tip on how to get them off, please share because this is ridiculous, I planned on driving it tomorrow, now I gotta drive the man van LOL. PLEASE HELP!

Take a large flat head screw driver, and put it between the trans and axle. Take a hammer and beat on it. Once the screw driver hits the zxle, you should be able to pry it out. Thats what I had to do.

Just get a fork and they should come out easily. The fork is wedge and if you beat on it . It would push the axle out.

I could always pop mine out with a good tug/pull, and always pop them in with a little push..

Try swearing some more. It will come

What happens is that C-Clip that holds the axle in becomes rusted and frozen into place...it usually takes a lot of effort to break it loose. When I pulled my motor the first time, I had to use a 4ft crow bar prying against the axle, off of the transmission...took much pounding and prying but eventually the c-clip gave out and the axle came right out.

the most frustrating part of this whole ordeal is the fact that I had the axles out just about 3-4 weeks ago when i replaced them along with the control arms . My friend popped them both out for me while I was doing the arms (so we could get it done quick only took 40 mins to replace both arms and axles and test them out :thumb:).

I tried a Ford fork tool thing (fit snug around the space between the tranny and axle) and with a normal nail hammer (I don't know the weight of it, used to drive nails through wood) I hit it in the direction to pop it out. I tried a lot of things and am considering making a tool that is just 2 bolts, one threaded in the other, and putting it in the space, then using a wrench to separate them.
