I was wondering how strong are auto trannys. I have a 1999 gst.

Far stronger than manual tranmissions. A few hundred dollars and a new diff will have an auto tranny pulling you into the 9s. I just recently replied to a very similar question in the automatic tranny sub-forum, you can find a more detailed answer there.

I just dropped off my tranny at the trans shop.. started slipping at 370whp... after the new turbo setup...500+ hp... destoyed 2nd gear clutch and some big band that I think raps arounds the planitariam...I think. Ordered the ipt rebuild kit and having a local rebuild it. I'm pretty sure the previous owner didnt give a shit about itso it probably went to hell real quick once more power was introduced.
