OK last night i go to leave my house 4 a little while. this is a 1995 eclipse gsx by the way. everything was fine, but when i went to put my lights on suddenly my gauge lights went out so i was like what the heck i got out and i noticed that my taillights are not working along with my license plate lights i checked my brake lights they work fine my turn signals work fine and my reverse lights work fine also my headlights work fine low beam and high beam just no tail lights. tonight i checked my tail light fuse under the hood looked at it seen it had a black tip so i said ok i put another one in i tried the lights 1 sec later i heard the fuse pop. no lights came on anyway. i tried a slightly higher amp fuse (20) popped the same. i was told possibly my switch. but i am not 2 good at diagnostics myself. so could anyone please help a fellow dsmer out!

any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks in advance
Brandon

dont put higher ampere fuses in! the ampere is chosen to be that level for a reason and it protects your wiring and components. when you allow more current to flow through, you risk damaging parts. check for frayed wires in the easiest (which also are the most exposed to the elements and rubbing) locations to see. the tail lights, and the side markers. do you have indiglo gauges? if so, check those wire taps.

last week i installed a sub and amp in my trunk right before this started to happen .my sub blew out. so i disconnected the positve power amp wire from the battery and layed it down inside till i got a new sub. i called a few places found one and i was gonna go get it then that happened i don't think that wire had anything to do with it. but its still a possibility i would like to point out that this all happened on the same day.

should i check for a short in the wiring where my amp is drawing power? or is it somethin else?

Ive solved 2 cases of blown taillight fuses with the same question.Sometimes after it rains or you wash your car moisture gets in the lenses. We fixed it with putting sealant on the lens in the small sealing sections.

I've seen the back of the fuse box welded, blowing fuses.
Unbolt it and spin it around and make sure there's no damage in the terminals and on the back of the box.

hey all i looked at the back on my radio and i found 2 wires exposed in there so i taped them up because they looked like they were touching the metal i put another fuse in and everything works now so i wanted to thank u all for all your help
I'm sure ill be back soon with another horror tale in the life of dsms LOL
peace all
