fuel sytem problem

people are telling me that my sudden losses of power are coming from a failure in my fuel system. so how do i figure out which part of my fuel system is bad?

Well, your description is kind of vague, but here goes.

If engine is not cutting out or missing. The following should be checked

1 Fuel filter as this is the most overlooked item I can think of.
2 Do a fuel pressure test and volume test to see if the pump is actually up to the job.
3 To a lesser degree the catalytic converter could be stopping up. You can have your exhaust system pressure tested at most any exhaust shop.
4 Pull CEL codes to see what maybe the computer has stored.
Do these and post your findings.

you're going to have to give us more details about what happens to warrant a "power loss".. describe the characteristics of what's going on.

check timing
check plugs/wires
check compression
check for boost leaks..

if you have a CE on, check that and give us hte codes

my power loss is at 85mph my car started bucking back and forth. also going up a little hill once in secnd at like 2500 rpms it shook on me and another time i redlined first and put it in seconmd and it bucked and shook hard.

I would check plug wires first. Really inspect the boots for white stuff that looks similar to aluminum corrosion which gives the wires a place to arc out before they get to your plugs. Easiest first place to check imo, and a very common place for headaches on dsm's.
