i have a 98 eclipse with a n/t 42A. i am buying parts to turbo my n/t eclipse. i have alredy built up my engine with 8.8.1 pistons eagle rods aARP studs. im having a hard time finding out the best way to go with my fuel system. i have a friend of a friend who built up a 98 eclipe b4. he had a haun stage 5 kit and ran 30psi of boost. he gave me sum parts he had left over after he put his car back to stalk. he gave me a AFPR the only name i see on it is BEGI. some 450 injectors. he tells me with this setup i can only run 15psi off boost(without the portfueler) witch im happy with 4 now but i keep reading on hear that i shold git a Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump rewire my fuel pump and run a 12.1fmu. but is that the right way to go im so lost my gool is to run about 15psi of boost 4 now but when i git the money saved up i wold like to run around 20 or higher boost. i ges what im asking is what shold i buy to start with so i can run 15psi of boost and what would i have to do 2 run more boost later.
 
First of all try searching there is lots of info out there on this. Secondly try to spell correctly so your post can be understood.
There isn't very many people running 30psi on a 2gnt. And I don't believe Portfueler will support that much boost. I think your friend is pulling your leg.
BEGI; - BEGi doesn't make AFPR's they make Rising rate regulators. Some of them can control the idle/static fuel pressure as well, like an sfmu.
You don't use a sfmu with Portfueler, you use a AFPR. You saying your friend is using one makes me think even more that he is pulling your leg.
Before you turbo you have to get a Walbro 255lph. It's that simple.

You shouldn't really go past 15psi or so on stock timing, so you would need something for spark control.

Here's my opinion;
You need to read alot more before you even turbo. If the BEGI regulator you have is the equvilent of an sfmu keep it and use that instead of the 12:1 fmu.

How do you think Hahn got his 500+ n/t eclipse? He had to be runnin around 30 PSI on his portfueler. BEIG FMU's can be used with an EFI unit if it was 1:1 witch they do sell along with MS kits, who says you can't use a SFMU unit or equivalent with an EFI unit??

OP: Bottom line is you should go along with some sort of EFI unit if you're planning to go anywhere in the neighborhood of 15 psi (that's if your state doesn't have emissions). Your friend is right about the fact you will only be able to squeeze about 15 psi if not more out of the 450's (Depending on the volume efficiency needed). Last thing you need to do is find out what rising rate regulator you have. Ask your friend what the rising rate was or find the number on the fmu or call/email BEIG and ask.

Out of curiosity which injectors was he using to achieve 30 PSI?

first off sorry for the spelling im not good at it and Iespell wont load 4 some rason. and i have read meny forms but couldnt find eny that matched what my friend was telling me to do. so i just wonted to no if he is all talk b4 i fallow what he was telling me. he told me that the regulator is a 12:1. and it does have a big nut on top 2 ajust fuel presser at idle. as far as injectors i will ask him tomarow. thanks 4 the help i will sign up 4 2gnt 2day. and i will buy a fuel pump asap thanks agen.
 
12:1 is only good for stock injectors to about 8 psi max (but that's still a lot of strain on your fuel system). Are you planning on installing the 450's with the 12:1?!! What are you going to use to soothe out the 450's at idle (if using stock PCM)??

But if i wonted to retard my timing just do it with the cam gears. my goal is to safely run 15psi 4 now. the set up i was told to use was the 12:1 regulator. Walbro 255 hp Fuel Pump, rewire kit, aftermarket fuel rail with this return fuel line going to the tank.

That's because it is wrong.

When people talk about advancing/retarding timing on these cars with anything beyond 15psi, they are not talking about the cam gears, they are talking about the ignition timing.

Running 450's without a way to control the fuel pressure is not going to be useful (maybe that beig regulator he gave you will do the trick).

Honestly to run more than 15psi in the future your 3 options are custom 8 injector setup, hahn portfueler and megasquirt.

The first option is stupid because if you're going to go through the hassle then you might as well just go megasquirt.

Option two is better for more of a novice than an expert. As far as I know the standard settings on a portfueler only allow you to run 27 psi.

Option 3 is the most complicated but by far the best option there is as far as price and tunability go.

Being that the link you posted says it's for a 90-99 I'd say it's 4g63 related. You will have to run a return line. Here's a link to all the info (with part numbers) you need to do it:

You can use an sfmu with an EFI but there's no point. Sfmu increases the fuel pressure in order to deliver more fuel. A EFI unit is used to avoid this since it's not really the best way of doing things. If you use an sfmu your going to be getting more fuel then you need, so either you don't know what your doing or your injectors are too small. With and EFI unit you only need a 1:1 rate to keep a pressure differential. A 1:1 AFPR is $140 an sfmu is $375 (an sfmu also can't do a 1:1 rising rate), so tell me who in there right mind would use a sfmu with a EFI?

First find out what BEGI unit you have exactly. If it can control idle/static fuel pressure install it and use the 450cc injectors. Your static fuel pressure is going to be really low, Chris had 450cc's and his pressure was 18psi at idle IIRC.

Edit: By the way I still think your friend is bs'ing you.
Ask him what injectors he is using and what he is using for ignition control.

If you would have looked hard enough you would know the sfmu's have recalibration kits with a small 1:1 disk, and it rises 1:1 accordingly and I've had it tuned to 16:1 with 35 mpg (cruise). Ran me about $50, FWIW its paid its dews over the past years and can switch back to the PCM (6:1 disk + ring) if I decide to upgrade/test something. In no way am I trying to per sway anyone to go this route. So, don't tell me it can't be done.

Yes his FP will be low, but running constantly rich without a piggyback to decrease fuel doesn't make sense....Talk about the plugs you will go through. By the time you buy a 6:1 FPR/safc you will be spending more then what a MS cost. Taking that into account....

OP: Judging your posts; you might want to stick with the stock injectors and the 12:1 for now unless you take your car to a dyno where someone knows how to tune MS. I can't imagine how washed out your cylinder would be with 12:1 + 450's, it wouldn't even idle.

I wonder if you can read...
I said it can be done. It's just stupid. $360 for an sfmu and $140 at the most for an 1:1 AFPR. Even if the sfmu can go to a 1:1 rate of gain what is the point in spending all that extra money.
Now I'm just repeating myself...
I realize you may have gotten it for $50 but not everyone can. I have an sfmu too so I'm not downing it in anyway. I know how they work and there an excellent middle ground between MS and a 12:1 fmu.

Why is he going to be running rich? If he has the ability to lower idle fuel pressure to accomidate his injector size then he will be fine.
Obviously the OP is not able to tune with MS, would it be the best and most cost effective way, yes, but unfortunatley not everyone can; or wants to spend the time it takes to tune MS.

Why wouldn't he just use what he already has? (The BEGI unit) If it's the one that can adjust idle fuel pressure then use the 450cc's and if it can't adjust idle pressure stick with the stock injectors.

I think we are arguing about the same point, it's just coming across differently.

OP, two things;
The link is for a adjustable fmu. So, I would say use that unit keep your stock injectors and just run 8psi; be sure you get your rate of gain around 12:1.
This is the one you would need (the eqivulent of an sfmu);
