OK so I've read from a few sources, including vfaq, that the feed line that is on top of the sending unit is a PITA to remove. This is apparently because the 14mm side is brazed to the sending unit and must not move when rotating the 19mm side.
I'll be swapping out the stock pump pretty soon here and I can't help but to think, so I'm looking for input (because I know I'm not the only one who has thought of this).
Has anyone tried angling the 14mm flare wrench closer to the body of the car, and wedging a brick or something stable underneath it? Applying the correct amount of objects so that the 14mm rests perfectly on it would essentially stop it from moving at all when turning the 19mm. For a little added security the 14mm could be wedged a little tight to put a very small amount of torque in the opposite direction, which would ultimately be 'neutralized' by the twisting of the 19mm.
The end result would be that efforts then would only be applied to turning the 19mm. At that point all that would hopefully be needed is a little PB and maybe an added wrench for leverage to break the line free.
I read a "how-to" that someone wrote about just cutting the line, and that is too "backyard" for my comforts.
Sorry for the long read.
