Here's my problem, I did a rewired install today according to plymouthlaser site. Install everything already and at last moment when i connect the fuse at the battery, as soon as I put it in, The pump will run/whine at all times when car is off, start the car and went around the block, everything is fine. Got home and turn the car off but it wouldn't turn off just like if there was a turbo timer. So in order to turn it off, i have to pull the fuse off.

Weird, could there be anything wrong with the installation? Starts fine and idle/drive better.

Thanks

What wires are going to wich numbers on the relay?

#30- feed wire from battery.
#87A- not used.
#87- when cutting stock 12V pump wire, this is to the pump side.
#86 - when cutting stock 12V pump wire, this is to the car side.
#85- - chassis ground.

#86 - when cutting stock 12V pump wire, this is from the MPI relay.

Agreed with some minor clarification.

You need to label what wire is going to what pin on the relay. That picture is useless without knowing that.

^^^^^^ What he said. Although I don't think that will matter in this case. The only thing that will be affected is the 87A pin will never go hot.

I don't know what color the wires are on a 2g, so I'll just explain it.

Step #1: Pin 85 needs to be grounded.

Step #2: There should be a wire coming from the cars harness that goes hot when you crank the engine, this is the wire that turns the pump on, it needs to be connected to pin 86. When it is stock it goes straight to the pump, just cut it and connect it to pin 86.

Step #3: Now you will have a piece of that wire that is connected to the pump, it will be the other half of the one you just cut, it needs to be hooked to pin 87.

Step #4: And finally run a wire with a fuse on it from the positive battery post to pin 30.

That is all you have to do. If I knew the colors I would tell you, but I don't.

I think hes doing it for a 1g....

but if it is a 2g spyder like in your name do this one worked fine for me first try
2G DSM FWD Fuel Pump Rewire Instructions

I assumed it's the 2g in his profile. But regardless, it is still the same relay and should be hooked up the exact same way.

this is assuming your running it with the supplied wiring harness for the rewire. the wire that your cutting is the black with blue line. DO NOT cut the black with white stripe wire leave that alone. the BLUE wire goes to the wire you ran from your battery with the inline fuse. the WHITE wire goes to the chassis ground. the YELLOW wire goes to the connector side of the black with blue line you cut. the BLACK wire goes to the harness side of the black and blue wire you cut.

BLUE wire connects to the 30 on the relay
WHITE wire connects to 85 on the relay
YELLOW wire connects to 87 on the relay
BLACK connects to 86 on the relay

someone else correct me if i am wrong

sorry guys, this is on my 1g talon. sold my 99 spyder.

ok, so i reread the vfaq page, and i was suppose to cut the fuel pump black with white stripe and connect the blue and yellow wires. what i did was i didn't cut the black and white stripes, i just tap the blue and yellow to it. guess i might need to cut the black with white wire.

i bought a stm rewire kit and not sure which line is which number.

not sure. this is the relay with wire already connected from stmtuned.com when i got it.

i'm not using the white wire. unless blue is white and white is blue. i try replacing white with blue but the car wont start.

Yes you have to cut the black/white wire (power feed to the pump from the MPI relay) but that doesn't quite explain why it turned on when you installed the fuse only why it never turns off once activated.

Without you labeling the terminal numbers on the bottom we can't really guess which color wires go where.

So I went to see what STM says on their site:

Now that you have the wire run from the battery to the pump location the relay is wired as follows. We suggest soldering all connections.

#30 (blue wire) - feed wire from battery.
#87A (red wire) - not used.
#87 (yellow wire) - when cutting stock 12V pump wire, this is to the pump side.
#86 (black wire) - when cutting stock 12V pump wire, this is to the car side.
#85 (white wire) - chassis ground.
These are the numbers shown on the bottom of the relay where the prongs are.

Your earlier diagram isn't even close and explains why it doesn't work correctly. Right now all you have done is tap the power from the battery into the feed line for the pump since 87A and 30 are normally connected.

thanks to steve. got it going good now. did what you posted and it actually work. i got it all wrong. i just assume the red goes to battery and black wire goes to ground, but actually not, its exactly like what steve said. thanks everyone. starts and shuts off perfectly now.

another thing, how would i check to see if it's properly rewired?

thanks
