hey all, im working on a fuel pump rewire right now and i wanna make sure i wired it up right.

I followed this to help me. how ever i got all my stuff from radio shack
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=96412

and i used the 2g spyder turbo fuel pump rewire VFAQ, it was the only 2g one.

this is what i did, please tell me if its good or bad.

10gauge wire from battery with 30 amp inline fuse to #87 on new relay. 10gauge good new ground from ground to #86 on new relay.

on the connector that goes to the fuel pump there was a bunch of wires coming out of it, this is where i need the most help. There was a fat and a thin black wire connected to it along with a blue/black and a yellow/blue wire. There was also a yellow/black wire that was connect to it but it seemed to run from the fuel pump to under the car somewhere.

what i did was cut the blue/black wire and took the end connected to the fuel pump to #30 and the other end that goes somewhere else in the car to #85.

Did i do it right?????????? or did i completely F it up? is there a better way to do it? any input would be cool:thumb: :)

o and i know that alot of you think this mod on a stock pump=waste of time but i got lots of time to waste sooooooo i dont really care and some people say it does work, hehe:thumb:

ugh, im confused, that seems way different then the way i did it.....
i need more help....:(

okay ive read it over a few times, so basically what i did is right??? i dont understand what the number on the new relay represent, 30 and 86 and stuff,i dont get it. what you basically do its run the power from the battery to the relay then run a good ground off the relay then take the old power to the pump and cut it and take both cut ends of the old power line to the relay??????????? so that the old and new power is coming to the new relay and getting grounded and leaving the relay though the old power line to the pump???? am i getting this yet???

It's not too difficult. Heres the main idea.

1) Run a 10 gauge wire from the battery with a 30 AMP inline fuse/holder somewhere along the wire. Plug that wire into auto relay pin 30.

2) Run a 12 gauge wire to the fuel pump. Cut the pump's black and yellow wire. You will need to use both ends of this wire. The pump side for this step and the car side for the next step. Connect the 12 gauge new wire to the pump side of the black and yellow wire. This goes to auto relay pin 87.

3) Connect a 14 gauge wire to the pin 86 on the relay and connect it to the black and yellow wire you cut, going back into the car's harness.

4) Pin 85 is a ground. You figure that out.

NOTE: I don't know why they call them pin 30, 87, 86 and 85 but they do. Pick up a relay and you will see.

i need to make sure of something, do i cut the black and blue wire? or the black and yellow wire?? the tech article says black and blue but he said black and yellow......the blakc and yellow wire looks like it goes under the car....im confused again..help?

okay that tech article is wrong, it did it exactly how it said and guess what car wont start. first i tryed to do what he said and the article and the car wouldnt start then i just followed that article, car wouldnt start, now ima just do exactly what he said to do and ill get back......that tech article shouldnt be there, it dosnt work.....

okay so i did exactly what Timg said and it worked fine, that tech article is way off, in needs to be redone or deleted, the person who wrote must have had a bad memory or was just stupid or something, i dunno.

OOOKKKAAYY, so i just noticed that my fuel level gauge is reading emtpy, last time i drove it it was half full, i guess i broke it somehow....either that or someone stole my gass over the night....does anyone have clue as to how i might have broken it doing the fuel pump rewire??? maybe i busted it when i cut the blue and black wire and put it on the relay with the power from the battery and tryed to start it or something??? the odd thing is its down on E but its moving alittle down there like when i hit the brakes hard itll move alittle bit....maybe i messed up the calibration or something.....did i mess it up or did it get stolen or WTF is the matter with it??

okay i was in a big rush earlier, now i can type slowly and calm. After i attemted the fuel pump rewire a few different ways i finaly got the car started only to notice my fuel gauge says im out gas. Its down past the last marker and its moving around alittle, it seems to go below the marker and right on top of it and back again, but that could just be my head messing with me, its down the the point where the warning light shoud be on, but the light isnt on...... Im almost sure its got a half a tank, unless i got roobed last night....i dunno. Only other thing i can think of is i messed it when i tryed to do the fuel pump rewire buy cutting the larger black with a blue stripe wire instead of the yellow with black stripe wire. I put the black and blue wire back together with some quick disconnects then did the fuel pump rewire with the yellow and black wire, i did exactly what Timg said after i undid what the tech article said. Any ideas? what should i check? only thing i can think of is the black and blue wire has something to do with the fuel level gauge and when i tryed to start the car with that wire connect to the relay with the 10 gauge from the battery it was to much power for something and shorted it out or something......Or maybe the yellow and black wire has something to do with the fuel level gauge and i didnt get the fuel pump rewire right after all.....someone help....

Make sure the fuel level sensor is plugged back in.

I told you to follow what I said but make sure the wire you did cut before, is back the way it was before you cut it.

im pretty sure its all back the way it was, sept i used some quick disconnects on the line i cut by mistake.... What wires are the fuel level sensor? maybe i pulled em lose when i was working in that area or something..

i was thinking, maybe i reset it somehow and now its reading half a tank as a empty tank??? im just making stabs in the dark here, i really could use some more help...

update, i think i know whats up now, i filled the tank all the way up...and by the way, i paid 2 bucks a gallon for 93....gas is so ### anymore.... the gauge slowly pulled its way up to 1/4 tank so what im thinking is when i cut the blue and black wire and put it back together now its not getting a good enough connection/power or something....anyone got a idea? the gauge is working but its not reading the fuel levels right. its reading alot lower then it really is and it has something to do with my fuel pump rewire attempts.

Take your gauge bezel apart, take your gas needle off and put the intrument cluster back in your car. Fill up your tank and let your car run for 5 min, install the needle to full.
