Here is the question, i have a 190 on stock wireing. I know if i rewire the 190 I will be getting close to its max it can put out if i push this turbo the way im going to. I would guess around 370-380awhp (my bench race) Anyhow, would it be better off to rewire this and see if it works or just dump in a 255 and call it a day? Or would the 255 even need to be rewired in this situation? I probably will rewire it either way but I dont want to be maxing my pump out thats why i ask.

Thanks
Kyle

if you are were to put in the 255 do you have an afpr for it? some even recommends an afpr for the 190

I dont care about anything put WOT in this car, its not my race car but i dont drive it long distances to care about streetablity. So therefore the stock FPR is fine. And no if i got the 255 i wouldnt get one either.

If you do not care about fuel pressure creep in non-WOT situations, by all means get the 255. I do feel that it should be rewired, I don't like the idea of pulling 20 amps through the 18 gauge stock crap. ;) The 190 rewired is barely adequate for a maxed out EVO16g. The EVO pump is slightly better at high boost IIRC, and only has one lbs/min of headroom available. Waay too close for comfort IMO. I upgraded for this reason in the EVO.

This is what I was thinking just looking for someone to push me over to get me started.

That's fine! But I would add a disclaimer that this worked in your case, but may not work in all cases. To state that you know for a fact that a 190 will support 121 mph on pump gas without any qualifiers could get someone else into deep trouble. For all we know, your car weighs 2500 pounds, 20 psi base pressure, and your actual AFR was 13:1 :D Someone with a full weight car that can't get away with more than 12:1 and is running higher base pressure to make up for small injectors... Well, you get the point. I only bring this up because it is really why I lost my last motor in the 2g to be honest. 255s are supposed to be "good for 10s" or "good for 550 whp," when I clearly had trouble at numbers lower than those, because of variables specific to my situation. But now I'm just rambling... :)

In my experience a cammed 2.0 ran out of fuel with a Big 16G and a 190 running 650's. I couldn't keep knock at bay unless I added copious amounts of octane. Switching to a 255HP with an AFPR got rid of the knock entirely at the same boost levels and tune.

Thanks for the replies guys. The 190 i have now with stock wiring is getting some knock around 20-21psi on pump no more than 5 counts but id like to see that at 0 and i thought hte reason could be the fuel pump since the car does have 650cc injectors. And just that little knock on pump scares me for when i do put race gas in it and go for broke.

And I know about the 121mph trap, iv been going back and forth beacuse i know it would be just at the edge on the 190pump with my setup and i think im just going to play it safe and move that edge far away with the 255.

My car weighs about 3300 with me in it and I am running about 10.8:1 AFR.

But yes I do agree what works for some may not work for others.

Again very true, and in most situatins id go with the advice that if one person can do it and keep things together it should work for me. But as of right now, im just not sure since i am getting knock on pump right now i just dont want to risk it when the car is on the dyno and getting pushed.

I asked b/c i honestly couldnt make up my mind, i know there would be both sides of the story and i wanted to hear them both to help me out, give me that nudge.

Hopefully my car will be done and tuned to make one pass this year and get me down into the 11s since i have changed the turbo, injectors and got a chip for my eprom i hope it can LOL.
