So the car is finally running no smoke but is leaking at the fuel pump compression line I'm trying to tighten it up now but if it's still leaks is there a way to stop that without having to replace the line or the unit?

It's leaking at the compression fitting we get it as tight as we can it's still leaks

If you put a wrench on the larger fitting and gently turn does it move without twisting the hard line? If so the threads are mating improperly due to debris or cross threading and unable to compress the hard-line flare against the cone in the nut to seal it.

If it does not move then more than likely there is a split in the hard-line flare and even though the flare is compressed against the cone in the nut fuel is leaking through the split

Either way you are probably going to have to take it apart to fix the issue

So that's the thing when we had to take it apart to replace the pump it didn't want to come apart at first it was pretty stuck on there. It finally broke loose and when we put the new one in it was fine but we didn't tighten it down so it goes as tight as it'll go and yet still leaks. We do not have the main tool though to get a good bite without stripping the brass fitting so we're going to have to go get the tool and see if we can tighten it down any further. That's right where it's dripping and it's a decently steady drip, it's slow but it does drip.

In the end we're thinking it might have debris in the cone and the nipple of the hard line but we're not entirely sure yet we have to clean it you got a little too warm today so I had to stop

At least she is running now and the smoking seems to have stopped as well. I have not replaced any of the valve stem seals yet I do have them to replace them but the smoking has stopped so I'm assuming it was just bad gas it did sit for about 4 years and then when ran it sat for another year.
