fuel psi questions

I know that some DSM models have different stock fuel psi regulators, for example: 1g turbo 5sp= XXpsi
1g n/a = xxpsi
1g turbo automatic = xxpsi
2g = xxpsi
Etc.....

Anyway my questions are:

1) How does one check the base psi without a built in guage? I have a guage but it's a Snap-on tool and I either need to put a T in the line or attach a "port" to the rail. Is there an easyer way?

2) If a certin model DSM has a different psi regulator can I get one from a junk yard to swap in order raise or lower my base psi?

I thought there was a port on the fuel rail for testing the pressure.

you can source it from the top of the fuel filter. Oh and base fuel pressure for a stock 2g turbo is 43psi I believe.

You need the Mitsubishi inline adapter fitting for the Snap On tool. Unless 2g's come with a Schraeder valve on the fuel rail?

I'm looking to put a different regulator on my 1G, if 2G turbo is 43psi what is 1G? Can anyone point me to a link that tells what each models base psi is?

you are in luck! i wanted to check my fuel pressure today but could find a way to stick my gauge in there without a fitting or something,
anyways, this is out of my chiltons book:

-1G turbo 5spd: 36-38 psi (250-270 kPa)
-1G turbo auto: 41-46 psi (290-320 kPa)
-1G n/a: 47-50 psi (330-350 kPa)
-2G turbo : 42-45 psi (289-309 kPa)
2.4L : 47-50 psi (330-350 kPa)

hope that helps, that's directly out of my shop manual.

where did you hook up your pressure gauge?

I hooked up my guage to the banjo fitting on top of the stock filter. Do you know if the regulators can be swapped between cars?
