I am new to turbo and psi how does it go together and I read forums about increasing psi on a turbo how can I and what is recommended and what does it do to the car

Hows it going bud, I think its time for you to start on some reading... you have quite a bit of homework ahead of you but can get a quick understanding for how things work by using this link...Frequently Answered DSM Questions - DSM Forums

You can learn a lot with just a hour or two of reading. A turbo causes psi also known as boost. The more air is forced into your motor mixed with the correct amount of fuel and other variables the more power you will get. You control boost with a Manual or Electronic Boost controller which connect to your stock Actuator on the turbo or your External Wastegate. Using the small information I have gave you should be a nice start for terms to search and look into using the website. I would go down the Tech tab and begin reading upgrade paths... this gives you information about the products available and short descriptions of what they do.

This diagram should help give you a understanding for how it works also....

You should definitely get a boost gauge to see how many psi/lbs of boost your car is currently running. I have a stock car and Im running 11lbs. of boost.

Yes check for leaks and then a boost controll, will need an aftermarket bov though if you have the stock 2g otherwise it will not hold the pressure atleast in myc ase thats what happens. Then should b able to run 14psi on stock turbo.Thats what i am running
