General Fuel Pressure issues causing my random shutdowns?

I posted here about an issue that I thought I was having with my ECU. My car would randomly die at idle. I sent the ECU to ECUtuning and they returned it and said it was working fine. The MPI bench tested fine as well.

I read up about fuel pressure on this dsmtuners thread. My pressures are higher than what is recommended according to these threads.

47.5 psi Vacuum disconnected.
38 psi Vacuum connected.

Is this OK?

As that thread lists the correct base fuel pressure for a 1G Turbo depends on if it's manual or automatic. Since I remember form your other thread that yours is an automatic it should read about 43 psi with the fuel pressure vacuum line off/plugged and drop about 8-9 psi with it connected. That assumes a normal idle vacuum of 18-20 in hg. How confident are you in your measurements? Those sound more like what I would expect to see from a non-turbo 1G.

@steve You are correct that it is auto. The gauge is a rental from the auto parts store. Made by Actron. This is the kit.

I bought a Walbro 190 kit from @extremepsi and I think I am going to install that this weekend to see if it helps my situation. I have no idea what the fuel sender looks like as it has not been disturbed in 28 years. I have a feeling that I might find something awful in there.

If you can get in there without twisting all the studs off the tank.

Update: I PB blasted everything and waited 30 minutes. All fitting came off very easily for me. Replaced the fuel pump with a Walbro 190 and topped it off with a full tank and things seem to be better. Aside from the front caliper that just froze on me and started smoking badly.
