After my exhaust fell off and punched a hole in my fuel tank about two months ago, I took the fuel tank from my 91 Talon to use in my 92 Eclipse. I used the same fuel pump and fuel pick-up that were in the tank with a hole in it.
The fuel tank from the Talon was different then the one from the Eclipse. On the Talon, the fuel pump was bolted to the bottom of the fuel tank. I got a plug for the hole, and reused the fuel pump and pickup that was in the Eclipse to begin with. I got everything hooked up and bolted up and ran the car to check for leaks.
I ran the car for awhile and it had no leaks. But I noticed my fuel gauge read empty. The car had 5 gallons of gas in it so it was not empty.
Now, I am finally tired of not knowing how much gas is in it. So, I am trying to figure out what would cause this. Maybe I put the fuel pick-up in incorrectly? I thought I put it in the same way. Or, will it just not work with that fuel tank?
