My gas tank was at about 1/8 when the car would not start. The fuel pump was make a loud pitch sound. Changed the pump that wasn't it. Made the same sound. Put some gas in it started right up. I also put a new ecu in it (the old one was leaking.) My question is would the fuel pump sending unit make bad reads on the gauge? Also does it have anything to do with fuel delivery. My car would randomly stall at idle. That's why I changed the ecu.

Thanks

The fuel level sender has everything to do with the reading on your gauge. It has nothing to do with fuel delivery.
