Okay, I can't think that I'm the only one with this issue, so anybody else run into this and how did you solve it? I just discovered that my fuel fill pipe, from the gas cap to the tank is rusted out and is now leaking when I get gas and throwing a code for EVAP gross leak. I called Paul as JNZ tuning where I get my factory parts and was told that it's no longer being made and there are none in dealer inventories. I got one from Gary at Mitsubishi Graveyard and after cleaning it up, found that it was almost as bad. I called "Mitsubishi manufacturing in Normal Illinois and actually spoke to an engineering person. He confirmed that it was no longer being made and that there was no dealer inventory. He also said that it must be from a late 97 to 99 GSX (my car is a 99 GSX) as all others are very different.

So anybody else experience this yet? and how did you solve it? My next step is to call some junkyard/auto salvage yards somewhere in Arizona or New Mexico, southern Cali....etc, states where they get no snow and minimum rain.

Mine is almost rusted out too. I've been trying to keeping an eye on mine and patching it up with JB Weld for now.

I wonder if you could patch it back up by sanding it all down, removing all the rust, and fiberglassing the pipe back up with some gasoline safe resin.

I'm thinking of taking the one that I got from mitsubishigraveyard to JM Fabrications and see if he can recreate it in stainless steel.

The newer 97+ iirc has a larger vent tube for back pressure when filling up. All thats needed to make it work on an older car is make a rubber hose fit the ports.

On mine, I'm running a 96 filler neck (smaller vent tube), with a 98 tank that has the provisions for the larger tube.

They still sell the whole assy, atleast in FL. Its under $90. I'll try to find the part number and see if any of the local dealers still have one.

Here's the thread with one: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/cle...ller-neck-new-filler-neck-gasket-44708-a.html

Part number: MR271612. Works with every 2g model.

I called JNZ Tuning today and they were able to get that same that you showed me the link to.....however that one is for a 2GB GS-T so I will have to find a way to make it work.

knochgoon24 I'll let you know what it takes to make it work
