well guys i have another ? for you about my 96 eclipse gs with the 420a motor. alright we had the codes checked and codes PO171 and PO736 came up. PO171 means that the fuel is to lean and PO736 is o2 sensor i guess.... But my real ? is what does it mean when the fuel is to lean? i was told that DSM will toss that code is the headers have been changed??????? I was also told that it could of have been the fuel fliter or an injecter. so does anyone have any ideas... now ONE more VERY IMPORTANT ? after the car sits for a bit it doesnt want to start like it turns over and all but it doesnt seem like its getting gas due to the fact that the only way it will start is if you pump it any ideas at all and does it have to do with the 171 code??!?!?!?! ### help i want to get this fixed asap thanks for looking guys

P0736 is a tranny code for reverse gear incorrect ratio. Fuel lean means that your engine is starving for fuel.

Check for proper fuel pressure and injector operation. Also check your map sensor as well.

its a tranny problem? also i thought it would be the map but no code showed up for it? and then thats why its so hard to start after awhile?

If your map is not reading correctly it is possible that it could be leaning out the fuel. You have two problems, fuel and your tranny.
