When i bought my car the front struts had been replaced at some time in the cars life but they rattled. I had a rattle in the front and the back sounding from the suspension. So i replaced all the struts and springs. But i still have a horrible rattle in the front suspension. I dont know if anyone has had this problem but i have taken both front sides off about 5 times each, thinking that i installed something wrong, and has yet to fix the problem. I have checked for anything that would have fallen gotten loose, or anything else and still the rattle. I really just could be overlooking something and hopefully its an easy fix. I only hear it when i go over bumps and it just a plain rattle. Any insight would be appreciated!!

Try your compression control arms. It is the crescent shaped arm behind the lower control arm. The ball joint on one of mine is worn and creates a rattle noise that I swore was my shocks also. But when I put my car up on blocks and hit the arm with a rubber mallet I hear the noise.:thumb:

1. Make sure you replaced the upper strut bearing.. "Two pieces of rubber" at the shocks threaded end.

2. Check all three ball joints for play as well as the tie rod ends.. Might as well check everything while your looking.

a. Lateral arm... Straight one... check the ball joint. Any play just take it to the dealer and say they are covered by recall SR-04-001

b. Longitudinal arm (boomerang). Check the ball joint..

c. upper arm check the ball joint.

3. Check the swaybar end links and sway bar bracket bushings. Worn bar bushings get alot of people because they never check them.

4. If all else fails detatch the outer end of each suspension link one at a time and swing, push and pull on it.. If a bushing is worn loose, frozen to a bolt or clicking you will find it that way.
