I just bought front and rear upper strut bars for a 97 n/t the back went on fine no problem, however when i go to install the front i notice that i have a clearence issue with my oil cap, with the bar on, theres no way to get the oil cap fully off, and its not on backwards cuz if i turn it the other way, the throttle body is in the way, has anyone else had this problem? am i doin somtin wrong here or what HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My strut bar on my '97 GSX actually rubs on the timing belt cover under hard driving, and only clears is by about half an inch at rest. From what I gather, this is a global DSM thing with most strut bars due to the position of our engine against our struts.

If I'm incorrect, and there is a brand with better fittament, I'd appreciate it if someone could post a link/image. :)

My strut bar is about 3 inches wide and i have no clearance problems, mine is mde by Vibrant performance? whats yours

The Neuspeed bars mount very close to the firewall and supposedly work very well. They were discontinued a while ago though, and so are very hard to find.

I got the same one that talon11 has(i dont think its a neuspeed though). Im still in the process of putting it on. But i put it differently. Talon11 has it like the upperbent part to the battery, but I put mine the opposite way. You can see the bar is bent down to up from left to right. Does this matter? I got the strut bar for 25bucks? on ebay last week.

ok i posted my problem after installing the strut bars and i drove to kentucy from PA and back with them, had no problem what so ever, then upon showing my friend the install, i went to show the clearence problem of the oil cap not being able to come off, and well wouldnt u know it, the cap came right up and right off, so there is no problem. She handles better then ever no rubbing no problems what so ever. just a false alarm. If anyone wants to ask me what kind they are.... Honestly dont know, or remember, got the pair off ebay for like 40-50 bucks and they work flawlessly. But if anyone really wants to know what kind they are i can actualy put the effort into finding out, but if no one cares... im lazy so never mind LOL
