Hey everybody I have been looking through the forums and haven't stumbled upon a guide on how to paint a *namegoeshere*

I am going to go tomorrow to pick up a front bumper for my Eclipse. I would like to paint it Black on Black and put it on my baby.

Don't worry this won't be a permanent job. This will be temporarily until I get the funds to paint the whole car.

Can anyone guide me on how to paint/coat the interior/exterior of a car?

I will post pictures of my current zip tied bumper
( I did not break the bumper, previous owner of the car sold it to me that way. ) and tomorrow I will take pictures of the new bumper.

arnie... it's pretty easy. look at my profile, i did a bumper swap because I hit a deer. pretty much i just

1) wet sand the bumper with 800 grit
2) primer it, i went to my local paint store and bought "Clear Primer" in a spray can, specifically for plastic bumpers.
3) picked up my Base Coat and clear coat... no cheap spray paint if you want it to last.
4) afterwards just spray it with a spray gun... not very hard. just follow the directions on the paint, and clear to learn how to mix everything properly.

Also, make sure before you primer it, you wash it really good with something, or wipe it down with wax and grease remover.... I have photos on my profile of the bumper... i have since then painted the whole car, and it's the one in my picture now.

^^^^^ what he said, put the extra effort in and you will be happy. Don't expect much from rattle cans. Buy a cheap gravity feed sprayer and have a go.

Yeah I was reading that one before I posted this. So many people posted similar and different ways. Just wanted to see which would be a more effective way to paint my bumper without any chips, coming out wrong, sanding it to the right level, etc...

Thanks for the reply though! :D

I can't find your bumper swap post, can you give me the link to it please! :)

If I find his guide swap I definitely will have a go at it! :p

oh, I didn't do a step by step guide. I just posted a few pictures of the paint and stuff, and the white bumper afterwards. mine was a north star white. it's on my profile under my gallery or whatever. also, make sure you do it inside somewhere. I was an idiot and painted mine outside, and it started sprinkling and got water drops in it... so I had to do a little extra work to get them out :D

I will try and get all the pictures off my phone though... and post them up on here for you to look at.

So far the way I was doing it has been going great! It's just been put on hold for certain reasons =/. I do plan to finish soon though that's for sure! Follow the method I listed later on in the thread. I made that list specifically for others just because that's how I like directions. Plus the pictures just to show what goes on during each step. Hope that helps

I always wanted to build a portable paint booth out of a portable car cover or one of those canvas tent things. Just cut holes for some filtered fans and buy a respirator.

Thanks bro I went over your pics! It came out great! How
Many coats did you use? You didn't sand it or anything did you? Just went right over it?

Looks like I'll be doing this with black on black paint or just a black LOL...
