1G Fried ECU?

Hey i'm lookin at buyin an older 92 talon tsi. however the guy sellin it has a fried ecu... he got that way because of his turbo timer? is this realistic? how can someone fry their ecu this way? is this an easy fix or will it be pricey? i'm open to suggestions.

the capacitors on the ECU tend to leak on 1g's and if you let it happen for to long then the acid will fry through the pc board, i had it happen on my car and my friends car. All ya have to do is find a ecu that will work with the car , i got mine for 85$ and my friend found one for 50$

You need to find out if it keeps blowing ecu's or if just the one in it has gone bad, take it out(if you can) and smell it(if it's bad it should stink like bad fishy smell). It is very common for 1g ecu's to go bad if the caps are not replaced.

If the car is burning up ecu's because of some mistery short, it could be a tough problem, I would get it looked at first before you buy, use a friends good ecu and make sure the car sounds good, and to see if the ecu's fries out.
