hey everyone! my avenger got hit a couple of weeks ago so i bought a 96 eclipse (both 420a). So i swapped everything over, connected it all back up and went to start it and all i get is *click*. I tried swapping the starter from the other blown motor, but still the same. Only a click when i turn the key. I thought it might have been a dead battery, but I boosted it and still the same, only a click. When i was boosting it the starter got pretty hot. Donno if its normal or not. The avenger was a 5spd and the eclipse is an auto, but i swapped the tranny's and left the ecu and harness etc. in the cars they were in. Don't really know where to go from here. any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

yeah they are correct. The positive on top and neg on bottom. I"m pretty sure both of them were getting warm. Would this happen if the teeth weren't in the flywheel correctly, because when i was changing the starter i noticed some fresh looking metal exposed on the flywheel. It never tore any metal off (well enough to expose, but not enough to ruin the teeth)

I had this problem with my gf's 2g. The solenoid would push out but the motor wouldnt turn. it turns out the clutch switch wasnt adjusted properly and you had to push it really hard. Had i known it was this simple i wouldnt have replaced the damn starter 3 times and tried jumping it numerous times. Try sticking your hand down there where the clutch pedal is and push the clutch switch with your hand and turn the car over that way. BE SURE IT IS IN NEUTRAL. I dont want someone telling me im the reason you got hurt. If youre that stupid dont try this.

the eclipse i swapped the motor in is an auto so i don't think that is my problem

double checked all my connections and fuses and still nothing. Anybody else have any Ideas?
