A lien would be some one who loaned on the car, say you get one from the bank, then their is a lien on the car from the bank. Basicaly security for the bank that you will pay the loan, because otherwise they take the car back free and clear.

Whew, I thought my car had been in a pretty serious accident as I found the front bumper to be repainted by a shitty painter like maaco or something. good to know it couldnt have been too bad.

Glad to know my car has been within 20 miles of my house my whole life, and that the car's owner gave me all good records (even have the original window sticker)

The car may have been born in Illinois but it breathed for the first time at a dealer not 5 miles from where I breathed my first breath. Muhahaha!!! (I am too obsessed....)

This was an awesome find Dave99GST!! I found out my last GST was an Auction car 3 times!! No wonder it was the biggest lemon i ever owned. Gives me a huge relief. Gives me hope that not all DSM's are unreliable

Thank God my current GST was owned by 1 other person (original owner), clean title, no accidents or salvage history. I can see the difference between this GST and my last one. I will make sure to do a vin check anytime i buy a car from now on. My last GST was at the Auction 3 different times, and had over 4 owners. No wonder the car was a POS lemon that i piled over $12k in repairs in. So far this one has given me no problems.

Black94DSM, i think thats all the report will tell you. For in depth info, i think you have to use carfax. Sucks that the car was in an accident, did the previous owner tell you about it?? How bad was the accident, what damage was done, any bent frame? You need to find this out.

No the previous owner failed to mention this. The car seriously dont look like it has been hit at all. No rust anywhere, cept where he had to cut for frontmount piping, which is normal. I wonder if i could call up the local department in OH and ask for a copy of the case # the report gave me.

The car drives straight as an arrow, so its no wonder why i didnt know. It was probably something so small but somebody got loud and involved the police. Oh well, im still going to look into this!

Well if it doesnt look bad, or you dont experience any kind of driving problems, i wouldnt worry about it too much. Im sure my car was in an accident, since the original bumper wasnt on my car, the right side fender when it cracked had plenty of bondo in it, the car felt like it had been in an accident when i drove it. I could hear all sorts of things, almost like it was about to fall apart. But i kept telling myself otherwise, because i knew if i found out the car was in a wreck, the $15k+ i spent in the car would go to waste and i would stop working on the car and start worrying about things. In the vehicle history report, it showed that my last GST hadnt been in any accidents..yea right! Sometimes its better to know your car was in an accident than not to know at all. Carfax isnt always 100% accurate. Some accidents arent reported.

I dont really know how usefull a VIN# is to somone.
If it were - somone could just walk around any parking lot and jot down a ton of them.

my car has been in more states than i have. bought in florida, driven to texas, illinois, pennsylvania, probably some other places im forgetting, and ended up here in cali. drove to all those places, so most of the states in between as well. then the guy sold it to some chick who never drove it, and i picked it up.
