so i just picked up a frankenstein level 4 turbo and got a few questions..i was told its equivalant to a 20g maybe a little bit bigger is that true?..what supporting mods wil i need to run this? i already have the walbro fuel pump and injectors but i was told my 550cc's wont supply enough to run the turbo? im getting a tial 38mm external wastegate....id like to run 20psi if that helps any on telling what i might need to go with it.

550s are more than enough for 20 PSI of boost. As for the turbo, I'm not sure if its equivalent to a 20G, I'll try to do some research and see what I come up with.

As for the supporting mods, your wally and injectors will be enough, just need to have a good tune and make sure you have a front mount, anything above 16 pounds of boost on a side mount may cause detonation.

You will want at least 650's to give you some flexibility, or something towards 1000's for e85 which would be safer & funner.

Not exactly.

The Frank L4 has the potential to generate over 50 lb/min of airflow; that's roughly 6 lb/min more (at peak) than a standard 20G.

I wouldn't exceed 16-17psi with 550's and a Frank L4; and if that's all the boost you're going to run, you need a smaller turbo. The L4's 60-trim Garrett compressor likes boost near or above 25psi.

Hmmmm... Wasn't really taking a higher airflow into consideration. Would 20PSI still be possible and keep in the safe zone? I mean, I don't want him to blow his engine by any means, just a general knowledge question.

20psi would still be possible but not recommended with 550's unless you can up the fuel pressure a little and play with injector dead time to lower the duty cycle.

Again, the OP needs to realize that if he wants to run 20psi on 550's he needs an Evo III 16G, not a Frank L4 20G. This is a hybrid turbo that is designed for big airflow and is not user-friendly by any means. Full boost will be around 4000-4300, and it will be difficult to keep in the powerband between shifts unless you shift very aggressively.

The L4 has a very smooth hit in comparison to a 16G; it's not as responsive as a 16G (especially with cams), and it's going to be 400-600 RPMs laggier than an Evo III. I honestly think you'll be much happier with an Evo III 16G.

i have frankenstein turbo and evo 8 560 injectors full boost on 3780 rpm wide band show 10.4 @ 25 psi boost no knock .

i already have a 16g...i picked this up really cheap and could pass it up....i was told bigger ijectors would be alot better i was thinkin 660 or a little bigger....i wouldnt be against running more boost im just not sure what would be a safe boost to run on my motor with stock internals

Frank L5 on a '95 TSi AWD that belonged to a buddy of mine was out of fuel with FIC650's at around 25psi. This was with a 255 pump rewired.
