I've seen alot of questions asked about if running a walbro 255 with a stock FPR would be okay. The answer is no. I'm wanting to change out my stock FPR with a AEM FPR kit by one of the site vendors MAPerformance, for my 420a. I dont plan on going turbo anytime soon so I will not be purchasing a walbro 255.

Would it hurt to just change out the FPR with an aftermarket one? Why or why not?

When swtiching to an aftermarket FPR is it nessesary to do a EGR delete?

I'm switching from a stock rad to a Radiator fan kit by Godspeed, in hopes that my idling problem might just be a cooling issue, also in hopes that by all the reveiws and forum posts I've read I too will also see my temps 25-30% less than what they are now.

Thank you.

You would gain nothing by swapping the fpr. All it does is adjust fuel pressure. If you mess with it all you will do is change your fuel trims. It won't hurt anything, but won't improve anything either.

The fpr and egr are two completely different systems. The egr is emissions controls.

Even if you swap out radiator and fans your car will still run at operating temp because the thermostat will maintain the temp. the stock system is more than adequate to handle your engine. Idle problems are rarely cause by temperature unless it is in a extreme situation. You may have other problems.

The stock system on my car is really old and in need of replacement. Its old worn and couldn't hurt but replace it. Lower temps could very well help me keep this dsm for the longer run.

So switching the the aftermarket fpr and being able to adjust the fuel trim wouldn't help anything? Not even mpg?

I don't see the point of swithing to a 255 if I'm not needing that amount of fuel.

an adjustable fuel pressure regulator is useless for your needs. if the stock one is working fine, the adage don't fix it if it ain't broke comes to mind.

and you don't seem to understand, regardless of the radiator/fans/etc you will still run at factory operating temp, if your running higher then factory operating temp then you have a problem and it needs addressed. otherwise again, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

and your idle issue is more then likely vacuum or electronic related. so neither of these upgrades will do anything for any of your problems.

since you said yourself you aren't turboing anytime soon, i would take that money and get your car running well stock first.

Well if I'm not going to hurt anything by swaping the FPR, I think i will go ahead and swap em out. I'm not going turbo anytime soon, but I would like as much done possible before I get my turbo parts together.

the idle issue is vaccum related, I'm troubleshooting it now.

I'm alredy going ahead with the rad swap, and getting my parts together for a waterpump change and timing service on my motor.

Thanks for the help everyone.
