There is a local person selling an FP Big28 and Im wondering how to distinguish between the older model FP T28 and their current model Big28. There is an FP logo on the inlet of the turbine housing so that kinda tells me it at least is not a T25LOL. Are there any #s or details I should be looking for?

Simple. New Big28 has 9 turbine blades. Older FPt28 has 10. Easy to see.

What is the difference between the big 28 and the t28 from fp. I bought a 2g and the guy said that it has a big 28 from fp. What is the power potential of both? Is the compressor different (that I can see without taking off the exhaust) or any other differences? Thanks!

FP never released any info on the newer Big28, but my FPt28/28 which is the older one has a 1.86" diameter inducer wheel. Mine has the 62 trim compressor wheel which is the highest flowing T28 wheel they make. The only difference between the older and newer was they switched from a 79 trim wheel 10 bladed turbine wheel to a 76 trim 9 bladed wheel. From what guys I've heard swapping between the two, supposedly there was a 15-20 h.p. advantage from the lower backpressure.

Power pontential? I pulled 350 w.h.p. (DSMLink) estimated and about 40 lb/min on the older FPT28/28. They are equal to the older Big 16g in flow capacity, not the EVOIII 16g though. I seriously wouldn't worry about having any older one.

Didn't see the need to make a new thread just a clarification because I just pulled a supposed t25 off of a car that has 9 turbine blades, and I think it is a big28. Doesn't the T25 have 11 turbine blades, the old t28 had 10 and the big28 has 9?
