The title pretty much says it all, i have my new wally 255hp here in hand and am putting it in tomorrow. Should i put the new sock on it or just leave it off? I have a 10micron SS filter elemnt in my main filter, but 10 micron is large on teh filtering scale, and i don't want to be taking the new 1000's out every 3 months.

Give me your thoughts and opinions.....

I would put it on. It keeps trash from getting into the pump itself. If you don't put it on you risk getting something in the pump and having to clean or replace it.

Put the new sock on -- it isn't going to hinder flow, but you will be kicking yourself if you have to continuously replace the 10 micron in-line fuel filter.

10 Microns isn't really that large on the filtering mesh; they do sell 40 and 100 micron filters too, so you actually are filtering out the most particles with your filter.

Either way, a second filter (using the in-tank filter with the in-line filter) is only going to be cheap insurance for preventing failure.

Cool, the flow was the only thing i was concerned with.

Also, isn't the 10 micron stainless steel filter element able to be cleaned with some colvent and compressed air? I would think so but if it's not recomended i guess i could just replace it when the time comes. I got SS because i wanted a "re-usable" element
