i am going to install my 34 mm flapper today and i don't really want to pull the hole turbo because i just put in new antifreeze and oil, and it will take more time. so i was thinking i would just pull off the turbine housing. does anyone think i should not do this because i don't see a reason not to.

shouldn't be a problem....just make sure its lined up and connected properly to the compressor when you put it back together.

well i just got off the manifold and o2 housing, man rnr musta f-ed mine up the bolts are so hard to get to!

i am gonna go pull it, i didn't see any harm in it.

well, i went to pull it. and.... it didn't come off. i have never pull off just a turbine housing so i am not sure i am doing it right.

i took the wastegate arm off the level for the flapper, and i removed the clamp that hold the housing to the center section. and i gave a good tug on it and it didn't come.

does this mean i should spray on some wd-40 and be slightly more "persuasive" or have i skipped something?

Whole. Not "hole".

But take a rubber mallet and slighty tap the turbine housing. It'll come off eventually.

could someone gimme a quick rundown on how to get it off, and i will post what i have done to see if i have skipped anything.

1) remove cotterpin from wastegate arm and removed wastegate arm.
2) removed clamp, i completally took it off.
3) smack the hell outa it with a rubber mallet.

does this seem right?

Here's a trick that worked for me... Remove the exh man, leaving your down pipe and O2 housing bolted up to the turbo. Remove the WG actuator arm & pin, then the V clamp. Then use the mallet to hit the side of the downpipe from under the car to crack it loose. I then used a large prybar up top to wiggle the whole assembly free (just before it seperates, remove the downpipe). Then just disassemble the turbo's hot side and the O2 housing on the bench.
Here's a link to a pic that I took with the hotside/O2 housing removed, if it helps any:

I had to drop my downpipe to get mine off. not sure if it will be the same for 2g's though.

have you tried using a flat head screw driver to pry it open? why dont you get some PB blaster got my turbo bolts off without even trying when i did my turbo swap.

well i said f-it and just pulled the whole turbo.

i don't see how i am sposed to get the stock valve out, without ruining it, not that i care if it do. i was just wondering what am i sposed to do to get it out?

i saw on vfaq that you have to grind off the end http://www.vfaq.com/mods/20G-mods.html but this is also for a 20g turbo, does the same apply for my 16g?

It applies for just about every internally gated flapper.
