What does everyone run in reference to fuel pressure gauges that are mounted in the engine bay.

I have my FPR mounted on the end of the fuel rail. Had an autometer non liquid before and it failed internally. A friend gave me a liquid filled gauge but I don't think it reads correct (FP constantly changing) So I bought a new one, forgot to read the stats and it shows up as a NON liquid filled. I am wondering if I should go ahead and use it or not.

What does everyone else reccomend?

Liquid filled gauges were designed to be used in the engine bay, so that's what I would recommend. However, I've been using the B&M non-liquid filled gauge for 2 years now and it's been great..... Either one works, but if I had a choice and there was no price difference, I would choose liquid filled. :thumb:

I have the B&M on the fuel filter and it works fine.

I always see everyone using liquid filled.

I have the B&M on the Talon's fuel filter. Getting ready to swap it to the Eclipse(have an adapter in my braided line after the filter for fp sender). It's pretty accurate comparing it to a snap on (I think) fp gauge.

I am using a liquid filled as well. The liquid will dampen the vibrations from the motor making the gauge more accurate and easy to read.

I have a liquid on filled one going into my new car and it's mounted on the regulator. I believe you get one from Slowboy from like $23.

I had both B & M and Autometer non-liquid filled, each one lasted ~ 2 weeks tops (that's how long it took me to find they stopped working, and that is no where near daily driven). I am now using a Summit liquid filled, and I've got over 1k miles on it. My gauges have always been mounted to the fpr which is directly on the fuel rail.

Do you have the one from slowboy? If so, how has it held up?

Yeah I have the $23 one from Slowboy. I just received all my parts from them last week so I haven't installed it yet.

of you can return the gauge to get a liquid one i would do that. i have noticed that the liquid does cut down on engine vibrations a lot and i can read the gauge a lot easier now.
mine is als mounted on my AFPR which is on my fuel rail.

I have a liguid-filled gauge mounted ON the fuel rail (AEM). The port is right over the last injector hole in the rail. Liquid-filled gauges are supposed to get rid of the annoying bouncing of the needle when the engine vibrates--making the reading and adjusting of pressure easier (and accurate, obviously).

Fuel pressures will be different between cold and warm, and hot engine. I found that the fuel pressure becomes normal ONLY when the engine is FULLY warmed up and has been warm for more than five-ten minutes.

I'm using a Marshall gauge with Full Throttle AFPR and it's working great. :thumb:

All i can say is, try not to get a Summit one, Me and Matt (98TSiAWD) were on a road trip, and when we got there we smelt somthing and poped the hood, looked at the fuel rail gas all over, we're lucky it didn't catch on fire, (that was in his blue 95 TSi AWD) so if it would have he would have thrown alot of money down the drain. That was kinda scary. well anyway just my .02
