FP"BIG"t-28 HELP!

Finally, my turbo came today, and ofcourse like Larryd and Violater101 said, it doesn’t comes w/the instruction..how sad. Anyway, I went and check the VFAQ site for DSM and look for installation, and found it, But it was for the 16G turbo. So after reading the instruction, I thought that, since the 16g turbo is not a direct bolt on, I assume that installing the "biG28" is half as easy as installing the 16G, if not easier. Am I right about this? Oh, for those who've done it, do I have to drain my oil before proceeding? And is my manual boost controller gonna be out of setting? I know these is alot to ask, but there is no one else to turn too, but you guys. all the people here are nuts about their Overrated Hondas
by the way my turbo is ported, should i really have to port my manifold and O2 housing for better performance? how if i dont? does it gonna affect anything or damage my engine?

Make sure you replace your oil feed line, if you dont have a copy of the reciept to prove you replaced it, they wont honor your warranty on the turbo if there is a problem.

My turbo only came with instructons on how to pre-lube the turbo, not how to install it. It was kind of like a reminder, to do so. So... don't forget!! It just said where to disconnect the connector at in order to turn he ignition over without the car actually firing up. Yes... your boost controller will be out of whack, so becareful.

Yes definitly port your o2. If your not gonna port your manni then why did you get the turbo ported. My sugestion on the manni is port it just because it's so easy. Congrats on the turbo man your gonna love it. I just put mine on 3 days ago and it rocks. That's just a strait up swap to nothing else all my supporting mods are on the floor in my living room. I'm still waiting for my SX afpr so i can do my feul mods(afc, 550s, 255) then i'll really se what she can do. This is a must if you don't want to stop during the install get the studds for o2 housing and mabey and buy some extra bolts. Get 1 o2 bolt and 2 tubo\mani bolts( 1 is to replace the studd and the other is a back up). I broke my 14mm socket trying to break the turbo\mani bolts loose. Aside from stripping bolts the actual install is pretty easy. good luck

Well I have my turbo on for awhile without a ported O2 and manifold and had NO creep boost would hold as low as 10psi. You should be able to break into the 13's with a few supporting mods and 116 octane with high boost no problem.

i just want to say thanks to everyone that posted on this thread. all have you have just made it easier to make my mind up on what turbo to get and wether or not to port my o2 housing and manifold. Thanks guys

ANYWAy, I just want to ask you guys(especially those ones who've done this).......UUUhhhmMM, What is the Best way to take the 4 Bolts off that connect the Stock turbo and Exhaust Manifold? i've tried my best to used diff. type of wrenches, but it seem like that the damn thing is not movable. .....PLS helP!!!

I would suggest that you purchase some type of breaker bar to break them loose, and use some liquid wrench. It worked for me. Good luck!!

Get some pb blaster I think its called ..that's what I did ..and then they came right off. I would also suggest you get some anti seeze when you put them back on ..it will help with getting them off in the future. On a side note, after you have everything back on, make sure after a few days you recheck the mani bolts as they will have a tendacy to come slightly loose, so just re tighten them a tad or at least check them to make sure all is good.

once again, I thank you all! its about 24:00 here in indy and i just recently finished taking evrything off of my car(after all that energy i wasted . anyway, this might be DUMB, but i just notice that i bent some core in my radiator(quite a few of them). now am worried that am gonna have to replace it, coz there is one area where there was a deep bent. should i worry about it? does anyone of you guys done this? ...I SUCK!

Didn't you take off the radiator when you did the swap? It makes it alot easier. If not, its something to think about whenever you do another swap. Like they said, as long as it hasn't been punctered and just bent the fins, you should be okay, just bend them back with like a flathead screwdriver.

well, LaRRYD, there where about an inch or 2 where there are fins smashed all together and about 1/8 of an inch deep. is that how the puncture apply to radiator or if it went deeper? LOWFLYINGgg-T, yes there where some area with just a bent fins and VIOLATER101, i know i should have taken the radiator off(what a dumb idea not to take them off). i would take them off tonight though, just to make the reistallation easier. MAn, i am trying to save some money for a new CLutch but looks like am gonna have to have a new Radiator . but we'll see once its all done. am hoping that there wont be any coolant leaks.

is it leaking fluid?? if it leaks fluid then its punctured..if not you should be ok.. you may have to run the car though to determine if its leaking fluid or not

I would remove the radiator when reinstalling the turbo just because its alot easier and it will only cost you a few dollars for some new radiator fluid. It's always good to get some new in anyhow. Its only a few bolts thats holding it on anyhow. Hopefully, yours will be okay and you won't have to go buy a new one ..I know how it feels when you break good stuff. I just broke my EGT probe and how to get a new one.

i dont see how youd hit the radiator doing a turbo install though.. i left the fans and radiator both in the car when I did the turbo.. hell i left it in when I puled the head and everything else off the car

I second that. Although I did remove my fans just to give me a little more breathing room.

o.k guys, i got done porting the mani & O2, and i already installed it together with the turbo. so in short, everything is done. today, i tried to turn the engine over for the first time since( i did disconnect the ignition plug and i hope i did it right. i followed the process on the instruction i got from the vfaq.com for 16G). anyway, i dont have any leak or any thing, the engine was just a little scrambled(probably due to the disconnection of the ignition plug earlier), but it did settle. but the problem is, that i notice that there where some "SMOKE " coming out of the bottom of the manifold, which only i can think of is the turbo . It does not smell oil or any fluid, just a plain white smoke, no smell either. i turned the engine off as soon as i seen the smoke . Man i hope this is not a problem! so once again, am turning into you guys to ask for help. is the smoke normal? am thinking since the turbo is new that will occur. does anyone had the same problem? Pls help.

oh, one more thing. i notice after about 5 minutes of idleling my car, my air/fuel ratio guage reading Lean, and if i rev the car, the guage is going leaner. .......and even if the car(engine) is on the normal temp.

if you replaced any of the bolts/gaskets with new ones...this will be normal. it happened to me when i installed my mutt and scared the crap out of me. it will just take alittle time for the new bolts/gaskets to kinda heat up...since they are fresh. mine spoked for about 10 minutes, then i shut off the car...let it sit for a while...then restarted it and no smoke.

just wondering....did you prime the turbo?

also, did you make sure to plug back in the maf connector, i have done this numerous times and the car will start up crazy...idling like a v8 with cams or something.

jeezz, thanks man! you just saved me from a heart attack! well, now the problem is my air/fuel guage. i test drove my car for about a mile or 2, and it was running fine but the guage was reading LEAN(its an autometer guage). my boost was fine, though it was only set @10psi(my boost controller is closed or all the way down). so, do you think i have to re-set or do something to it? i dont know really what went wrong with my a/f guage. thanks!

If you have used any type of anti-seize, which I hope you did, it will cause some smoke to appear for a few minutes. Good luck!!

don't know what could be up with the air/fuel gauge. don't wanna sound like a [email protected] autometer af gauges are really pointless. i used to have one, but sold it because it wasn't worth a damn.... just looked pretty.
