when my t25 went, i got my big16g on special from fp with it ported and the 34mm flapper. man what a difference, everybody says its not that big but i cant put your butt in the seat in 4th and thats with out any head work or manifold work all the way to include stock dp and o2 housing. I cant wait to get the evo3 o2 ported and a 3" dp. Id say go with big16g

Get a small 16g. Its cheaper and has a better compressor map. I know there was a HUGE argument on one of the forums on 16g vs. b16g. The 16g is better in every aspect. Better flow map, price, etc. The b16g might flow 15 more hp topend. But the small 16g will flow better and low and middle rpm. Get the small 16g NO CLIP and port the hell out of that, your exhaust manifold, and o2 housing.

BTW the fastest 16g is a small 16g.

I just swapped from a TRE ported small 16G to an Evo III Big 16G, unported. I went from [email protected] to a [email protected].

There are quite a few 16Gs in the 11s these days. I intend to become one of them.

Incidentally, the midrange of the Evo III big 16G feels stronger than that of the small 16G.

i just recently bought a fp big28 ported from a guy off dsm trader. the turbo had 13k miles on it, no cracks or shaft play. bought it for $470 shiipped. next im buying his greddy 24r fmic off of him for a good price with all greddy ic pipes. i wanna ditch my rre pipes they are only 2.25 inch pipes. greddy pipes are 2.5 inches. once i get the fmic and my 550's im getting it installed with exhaust mani portwork, and 02 ported. cant wait. im def shooting for high 12's with this setup :dsm:

I'd say skip either one and proceed straight to the FP3052 line. Yeah, it cost more... so eat fewer burgers!

I can say right now that I will get a bigger turbo soon after going FPT28. Going from a T25 to an FP3052 is another league in itself.

I see it like dating a woman. So your going out with a hot chick that you know you won't marry, but you both are going to enjoy the time you have together and when the time comes, you move on.

Yeah the T28 will cultivate my lust for boost, but you have to take it in steps. I've actually seen some really good dyno numbers from the FP-T28 which were very impressive ( 350whp and 375 torque ). It was an FP and Magnus car I believe ( Marco was in a pic ).

Whatever floats your boat... Personally, I look at it purely from a financial point of view. Makes more sense to save up for the FP30 and do it right the first time than to spend X amount on top of X amount to eventually arrive at what you really want. When all is said an done you could've bought 2 FP30s. I'd rather put the other $ towards something like a fully built 2.3L by FP. Which is the direction I'd like to head towards... if fortune smiles upon me for once. The past few years have been brutal. It's gotta turn around someday... it better.

If you do all your mods at once out of necessity because you upgraded to an enormous turbo, you will end up hating your car. I've seen a lot of people do everything at once, never get the car to work right, or work to its full potential, and they end up selling the car. Happens all the time.

Whither its spending money on the ladies or DSMs, it usually doesn't make much sense in hindsight ( but you have fun while you do it ;) ). If I came into alot more money than I have right now, I would go balls out on my setup, but finances for me are a trickling creek. I get what I can bit by bit and always dream of something better. Same thing for cars too. :p

Without planning and proper research there is always a chance that you will bite off more than you can chew.

With the FP30 you don't really have to do "everything" at once. You'll probably want a FMIC, a ported manifold, a aftermarket fuel computer/engine management, and exhaust... which are all things you'd end up wanting with the other turbos anyway. The motor I want to have built has nothing to do with the turbo. That's a whole separate issue and is not required by the turbo. Do a search and read the reviews on the FP30 both here and on dsmtalk.

The question of which turbo is best is really a misguided question. The choice is a matter of setting a goal for your car and how you go about achieving that goal. It's all about application.

The nice thing about the 16G or Big28 is that you don't need a front mount. You don't really need injectors right away. You also don't need a custom O2 housing, and you don't need an external wastegate.

Personally, I prefer the step by step method, which is what I have been doing with my car.

If you only change one thing at a time, and your car gets slower in the process, you know what caused the issue. If you change everything at once and your car is slow, how can you tell what the hell went wrong?

LoL wow this thread is very old:laugh: anyway i decided to go with an FP TDO5H 18G (FP sells it for less than any other vendors), EVO 3 E.manifold, EVO 3 02 Housing. I have started to save up so far i have $500 so in a few months i should be able to get it and have all the supporting mods by mid to late summer:dsm:
