found a CHEAP 2g motor

friend of mine has a 7bolt and doesnt want it because 6bolts are "cool".

if i rebuild this thing and find some good bearings, will crankwalk always be an issue no matter what i do to it? or are there certain parts i can fix so i can rebuild this 7bolt and put some power to the ground (less than 400HP)???

There's a lot of arguments for things you can do.

I would suggest using a CRCO dowel kit, and using full groove bearings for the thrust. It's not a gurantee, but if the motor isn't walking, there's a decent chance it won't.

Basically noone really knows the cause, so it's hard to find a solution. I think Magnus Motorsports belives it's the oil squirters (I think there's more to it) and others believe it could be just people not aligning the thrust during crank installation. Some belive it has to do with bad bearing design (only partial groove) and no chamfer bore in the crank. I've also heard it has to do with the fancy-schmancy clutch device that malfunctions and doesn't let the clutch out the whole way. Some think it's just the larger oil passages which don't get oil to the thrust on startup (and when you push in the clutch this causes problems...just pull the trigger plug). There's a local guy that makes "2 mods to the block, another mod to the bearings, and another to the crank" for $200 and will gurantee that the motor won't walk. We haven't had anyone put any real miles on the motors but he's a pretty well known guy who does great work. If you eliminate all of the above problems, then there's a darn good chance your motor won't walk. Then again, it might not walk even if you don't do anything to it.

Man, if your just looking for a cheap engine, come down to Arkansas and if you pull the motor you can have it......it needs a rebuild, but if I were you, I'd go with a 6 bolt.
