A guy I have always trusted with DSM's offered me a 6bolt block, crank, misc parts, and 1g rods for 125$... He said the motor ran fine he just took it out to drop his new motor in. He said it had run hot once.

I bet i can trust him on the block cause they can take a beating anyways.. but as far as used rods, what do i need to look for with the rods?

engine had 115k miles on it, and i dont have goals of 400hp, so are these rods fine for my build if they check out ok?

stock rods and internals themselves are fine for reliably handling around 350whp. some people will say a bit more...but the more you push the better chances of breakage.
If you can shoot for 350whp on the stock internals I say that is fine, and 115k isnt alot on them. Make sure that the motor is holding boost, has good compression, and wont burn oil...(even though its not hooked up yet). Check the oil pan gasket, and look at the crank case end and make sure that it doenst have any play. Other than that you should be A-OK. good luck dude. :thumb: :dsm: :talon: :laser:

DSM internals...especially 6 bolt internals are good for 450whp sometimes more depending on the tune. Tuning is everything on a motor. I have pushed over 400hp on stock 7 bolt internals without a problem because it was tuned by some of the best in the business. If you are getting the motor and are going to drop it in for 400hp here is what I would do...Get the motor...get a new HG and ARP headstuds. While the head is off you are only 2 steps away from taking the rods and pistons out. Take them out...rering the pistons and get new rod and main bearings. For under $500.00 you are looking at a semi-fresh motor that I wouldn't resitate to throw 400hp at all day long. I would HIGHLY recommend getting some sort of monitor and tuning device's as soon as you start the motor up though.
