I started what was to be a stock re-build on my 6bolt. It ended up needing to be bored .020 over so I got my hands on some .020 over JE's. So then I figured I'd buy arp hardware for the head, and a cometic, wich I did. The block should be coming back next wed. from the machine shop. So I'm thinking now, the rods will be the only (not so) weak link. Since its all apart, is it worth spending the extra $350 or so to get a set of eagles?
If I do get the eagles, with the eagle/je combo, and the cometic, I'm not really sure how much HP this motor will safely hold, wich will then probably change my choice of turbocharger.

Whether it is worth it or not is up to you. What are your REALISTIC goals for your car? Stock rods can handle 400hp in daily applications. What I WOULD consider though is perhaps changing your piston selection. Either to ROSS or Wiseco's to be precise. As for your rods, Eagles will suit you to 600-650hp. Think about your pistons.

From what I heard about the JEs, they get more piston slap than others. I personally went with the Weiscos because of the weight variance between the two and the silicone content in them. (I think it's silicone). Also, do you think you will be making 500hp? Really, do you? It seems like you are unsure of what you want out of your car in the end. Just to be safe, I would just buy them, ease my mind, so you don't have anything to worry about in terms of bottom end.

As far as the car, My realistic hp goal would be around 450whp daily, so I think the rods would just be good extra insurance. I would like to have 1 11.5x timeslip to my name though. I didn't do much reading on the pistons until after I had bought the JE's, and realized most of the 'community' rank them towards the low end of the list as far as the "good" parts to get. I now feel that it was a mistake to get them over another brand. However, I think I'll stick with them, and if I encounter any problems I'll probably switch.
I'm fairly new to the DSM game, so I don't quite know what kind of repeatable 1/4 mile times that motor (eagles the JE's, all arp hardware, and the cometic) would be capable of supporting.
Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.

if you got the money spend it,if you dont have the money dont worry about it,put some arp rod bolts on the stock rods and go racing.

I would def. ditch the pistons

I'd rather run stock rods and weisco/ross pistons then je's on anything. Nothing but bad things and toasted motors from those pistons. Pls sell them and spend the money and get scat/eagle rods either or and some ross/weisco pistons.
