I bought a new shell that I'm swapping over to and it still has the a/c in it. When I bought my current car it had the a/c taken out already. I'm wanting to try and keep the a/c. I wondering (especially from people that are running it with a FMIC) what kind of problems I might run into. I know cooling might be an issue, also where the IC pipes go through the rad support the a/c lines also run through there. I had no problems with cooling over the summer and only had 1 fan so my cooling system is in good shape.
Thanks for the input.

I have my fan wired to be always on, I would keep the second fan or make it always on.

The fan on the left is for your ac. Im personally going to do a aluminum radiator and a dual fan shroud that will both be wired to come on at the same time. But then again I'm going to be moving back to Florida sometime soon. If you simply turn off your ac at lights over heating isn't as much of a problem but let's face it, the worst time to not have ac is at a light.

*edit* I read this thread when it was bumped. I meant to say the fan on the left is left alone and the fan on the right is for the AC. My mistake.

R12 is def. hard to come by...I randomly stumbled upon some from an autoparts store employee when I was talking about it..he charged me $20 a can..

Anyone know of FMIC that fits well with A/C on a 1G. I am in the middle of a VRS FMIC install on my car right now (in the evenings) and it is an absolute nightmare. The a/c isnt the only problem with the FMIC but I want to keep the thread on subject and not mention the other things.

I have a/c, fmic, and no fans hooked up right now for about 4 months. No issues. Its about 85-93* everyday lately...

Get the ETS street kit....I have it on my car (1990 GSX) for many reasons. First it mounts underneath the crashbeam so no need to hack it. Second the core is only 3" thick so it still allows plenty of air to reach the radiator. Lastly, the piping allows you to keep the passenger side fan, but will need a slim fan for the driver side. Oh yeah....it supports up to 450hp. My AC is still plenty cold even with temps reaching 100 degrees here in South Texas.

Well unfortunately I have already bought the VRS kit and am in the process of installing it. ON the ETS kit did you have to bend or "reconfigure" any of the a/c lines where they come through the holes in the radiator support. Did the lines get in the way of the end tanks on the core? The core on the ETS kit looks like the end tanks are similar to the VRS kit but not quite the same. My end tanks are having clearance issues with the end tanks.
