Fmic Overkill Question

so im looking to buy a fmic in a few weeks and i dont know how big of size i should get
for my set up...i like big ones that will cover the entire front when i cut the little black part off!!!
but I want to make sure its not going to be a overkill for my T28
this is what i have done so far

Garrett T28
AEM High Volume fuel rail
Aeromotive A1000 Fuel Pressure Regulator
255 fuel pump walbro rewired
balancer shafts removed
NGK Copper Spark Plugs BPR7ES
Injen intake
Apex'i N1 exhaust cat back
bore .20 over
Eagle Forged 4340 Chromoly Crankshaft 7 bolt

so question is how big can i go? and where to get it from?
 
Its entirely up to you. Larger cores will drop your boost pressure in most cases but, not by alot. You need to research the various cores available but, get something that will be able to cool whatever you through at it(IE, if you decide to upgrade turbos). You can get so many intercoolers out there, it just depends on what you want and how much you want to spend. We have plenty of treads and vendors here. You are pretty much guaranteed to find what you want from what we have provided here. I can't tell you exactly what you want but, I may be able to tell you what direction to go. But, for a good quality intercooler setup there are a few good places to look at. Just try the vendors we have on the site and I am confident that you will find what you are looking for.
 
dejon offers a budget fmic.. that uses a decent sized core, but you use a side mount style upper pipe, for the price i think that would be your best option. i dont think i would consider any of the large sidemounts. because they would be just as expensive as a budget fmic.

This kit will definitly fill your full bumper gap.

As far as slowing the spool a bigger core will do that, but what you will gain in cooling allowing you to run more boost will out weigh it.
Id say gone and go big now so you dont have to ever upgrade the intercooler again.
 
I've had the same question. But i went from the t25, to 14b, to small 16g to Evo 16g to finally the 50 trim. Trust me when i say. your not gonna stay on the T28. Even just having the 24'12'3 front mount, that is more than enough to receive ample power. Your gonna take a lil longer to boost and just remember. Now you have more piping and intercooler to run that air through.

Thats why the STI and WRX guys stay away from front mounts until they upgrade to a pret-ty good size turbo.

As suggested below. get the bigger now. You wont spend the money again getting a bigger one
