Rickshaw,
ok, my fmic is starting to get really dirty. i've tried using wheel cleaner on it, and it didn't get off any of the dirty crazy that was in between the fins. is there anything else that can clean the fins and break loose the dirt and stuff?

be easy with the pressurewasher cause the fins are really thin andthey can bend easy... Have you tried Bleach tire cleaner? the stuff smells bad but it cleansanything so dont get iton your paint, cause it will ruin it

for the fins, high power hose or psi washer.

Yes, be careful with this. Iv'e seen some bad things happen to radiators and intercoolers, especially with a 0° tip.

Good luck:thumb:

When I did mine... I used Black Magic engine cleaner, then i went to the carwash and used the hot water jet cleaners. After that, I used a 2000 grit piece of sandpaper and sanded the tanks down.

high pressure is out of the question, my intercooler fins are starting to get destroyed by rocks. thanks guys

Umm...go to home depot and buy some net and put it over. It will hardly be noticeable :)

If you have access to compressed air, put a blower fitting on an air line and shoot air through the intercooler from the back. It's much easier to blow debris out from the back rather than force them all the way though the tiny openings of the intercooler.

If you're fins are bent, you can use tweezers to bend them back in place (there was a tech article on this). It's tedious, but it gets the job done.

If the bars/plates are dirty, use an engine degreaser and finish with an aluminum polish for best results.

Simple green. We use this stuff to wash the condenser coils on industrial chillers.

Also use a high pressure hose, such as ones at car washes.

Just be careful not to get the nozzle too close though, or you'll bend the fins.

have you tooken the outside hose and coverd mmost of teh outlet with your thumb to creat a verfine mist? and adjusted your thumb?

I think he means to get a normal garden hose and cover up the opening with your thumb to increase pressure and to make a fine "mist". Personally, I don't think that would create enough pressure to wash anything out, and its not really an improvement over those dollar-store garden hose add-ons (with those pretty "Shower","Jet", "Mist", "Soak"... ect.. options).
