My valve cover has been leaking like crazy until the recent fix, but now there is a magnificent grease all over the belt side of the engine.

So I was thinking about taking it to the self wash car wash and spraying down that side with the hot water. There's really only belts on that side, I cant see a problem with doing that, other than I may need to replace the belts after that, which I am prepared to do.

Basically I wanted to know if anyone knows otherwise why I shouldnt do this.

Many threads on this, but hey what's the newbie forum for? You can use GUNK cleaner (has 420A on the bottle even) even though your a 4G63 it will still work quite dandy.

You could go to a car wash, but you have to cover the intake, any sensors like MAS and be extra careful not to get water in anything you're not supposed to. I recommend taking your time and not using loads of water.

GUNK can be found on Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, Books, DVDs & more

I brought my jack with me to the car wash and used the engine/tire cleaner.

Worked pretty well. Too bad its all dirty again.

There are threads regarding engine spraying, but none specific to my "Hey, I want to focus a piss-ton of warm water with a high pressure wand at the belt side of my engine" question. Most of the threads have to do more with "Hay guys, do water and electricity mix? and if so is it ok to pump water into my intake?"

Since I will be no where near the intake, or MAS, or any other thing on the oposite side of the engine for that matter, Im not entirely concerned about them. (I'm pretty good at handling the wand.) My main concern was if there was anything behing the crank pully, or anything anywhere else in that vicinity that might not like the whole water thing.

Nothing should be exposed that you have to worry about.
