Just a quick question. Will I need to retune after installing a FMIC? Obviously it needs to be done to get the most power out of it, but I'm asking from a safety standpoint. Will it make the engine run significantly leaner? Am I'm going to have to drive off boost until I can get to the dyno?

just keep your logger handy.

I was tuned using the Initial S-AFC Settings thread and the butt Dyno

tuned at 20psi on stock sidemount, running it rich.
the only time i saw 18* advance was at 10-12psi in winter.

Now that i have the frontmount i have it at 18psi and reach 18* at 6500RPM

you should be fine based on how your last tune was and if you keep your boost setting the same.
If you are worried i would just add like 5% more above 4000.
VR Dyno here i come!!!

Edit:

After i convince the G/F to let me get a 3" catback to replace the 7y/o rusted Burschur, we should make plans to go together on a weekend.
also we shoule ask Arron if he can play "push it to the limit" from scarface when he dyno's us.

My FMIC should be in next week, and I hope to have it installed by saturday. PM me and I'll give you my cell number. Dynoing with someone is always less stressful than dynoing alone. LOL Maybe I can borrow your logger, I don't even have one.:coy: And come on bro, don't let your g/f tell you want you can and can't do to your car! Get on top of that, don't be ####y whipped. :p

Nothing against Aaron or the guys at VR, but I didn't like the tune Tim did on my car at all. I was charged for 2 1/2 hours of tuning time, 1 1/2 hours of which was spent with him talking to my friends about their Hondas. The power it made was crappy and he put some piss poor effort into the job. No to mention the fact that VR has screwed up something on my car every time they've worked on it.

Jonathan Goldsberry, the guy that actually owns the dyno, retuned my car a few months later. He really knows what he's doing and it looked completely effortless for him. In about 10 pulls the car made 30hp over Tim's tune on 2psi less boost. He was giving me tips and advice about my setup and explaining everything to me as he went. If he isn't available to tune it this time I'll be doing it myself, I wouldn't let VR tune it for free.

I don't want to start a war about this if anyone else from CT sees this topic, I'm simply stating facts from my experience. Your results may vary.:thumb: :p

dont worry ive heard the same thing from another CCDSMer who didnt like their tune there.

but hey ill leave who does the tuning up to you since ive only done mine on the street at 2AM.

we can go to VR, XX tuning, Pruven... doesnt matter as long as we get on the AWDyno.
I didnt buy a GSX for nothing, ya know?

yeah i picked Katelyn for the first time in 3 months 2 days ago and she got one block away from the house before she was like "wow i cant believe how much louder it got!"

so right now im deciding on the new Megan 3" or RRE's Espelier 80mm

Decisions, decisions...

I'm fine with dynoing at VR/Bristol, I have no dyno preferance and that's where I've done all my other pulls so they're all saved in the computer. The guys at XX are just straight up assholes, I'll never go there again. Pruven would be nice but I'm a long drive from there, I don't know about you over in "rich country" LOL. West Hartford maybe? Avon?

Let me know when you want to go. I'm so pumped I'm finally getting a front mount on!:thumb:

Sheeee-it

Fu(kin Greenwich/Stamford/Darian/Fairfield SON!

i live in Stamford but ill make the swing up to VR as long as we get the good guy to tune our shit.

Oh yeah, what she dont know cant piss her off

Ordering a 3" this week.
