FMIC Choice

Ok, looking basicly for people with experiance here, not hear say or "rated at xxxhp" So far the PTE small FMIC looks good for an inexpensive, yet worth while intercooler. It's only 310 at Darkside. I'm gonna use it on a E316G/MAFT/650/full supporting mods. I've heard it's not good for high hp cars but is it enough for a 16G maxed out? Anything better without doubling the price? Thanks in advance.

ok, changed my mind. It's just too small. I'm considering the 31X8 PTE now but I've heard it has so many fins per inch it effects flow through the inside of the cooler and flow throw the outside(effecting radiator cooling.

Also look for a bar and plate core, not tube and fin.

Most places use the bar and plate core nowadays.

I would get a kit with short-routed piping personally.(unless you are making your own and justl ooking for a core)

True enough, but you know how some people get suckered into buying these crappy tube and fin cores off eBay.

I'm just making my own pipes. I can build it for less than 100 dollors mandrel bent and all. I'll post a how to

Anyways, yeah just an affordable core. Like I said, E16G that will probably never see the track. It's just a hobby for me really but I do like to get on it some times so it won't go unused

610 for just a core and my car will probably never see the track? yeah right. I'm not sayin they're not worth the money or anything but there is no point in paying that much for an intercooler when I will never use it's abilities.

pte intercoolers use garrett cores, and I believe victory also uses garrett cores. Garrett cores are made with the fins "denser"(more fins in a given area) than a spearco. This should give you better cooling but more pressure drop.

That one is a little cheaper and is similar in size to the spearco 2-220 core.
