Flowmaster exhaust. Questions!

I was wondering if anyone had ever put flowmaster exhaust on their dsm's? I went to the flowmaster site and they have an acura integra r with a flow master exhaust and it sounds good. I was wondering u was to put a flow master exhaust on a 2g eclipse with a custom muffler if it would sound good. May sound stupid, but I would still like to know if this would be possible.

I'm pretty sure to get any performance at all (not that your gonna get too much) your gonna want a straight throw design muffler.

yeah you dont want a chambered muffler but if your still getting an NT, then i guess it wont really matter

My old 1G came with a custom 2.5" turboback with a Flowmaster. Sounded nice...prolly sucked performance wise.

I have a couple vids if anyone wants to host.. One of it revving in nuetral, another from the inside driving around, and the third is racing a 98GSX.

I am going to take a minute here and stick up for the crew out at Flowmaster, particularily for the R&D Department. For those of you that don't know, one of the main men over in the R&D Department is a man by the name is Kevin McClelland. Kevin's father has done much of the announcing for NHRA events over the years, so you may recognize the name. After working with Kevin on a custom exhaust system for a project here at school, he is one of the most knowledgeable men, if not the most knowledgeable man I have ever talked to when it comes to exhaust and engines as a whole. From what I have been told, he also one of the most knowledgable men in the country when it comes to overall engine building, which I have no trouble believing. When you guys sit here and downplay Flowmaster, are the mufflers that you are downplaying specifically made for a 4 cylinder forced induction vehicle, particularily a DSM? As I browse through the Flowmaster website I do not come upon and muffler or exhaust system specifically made for a 4G63T. Now I'm sure some of you are thinking, "bla bla bla," I know that Flowmaster mufflers will never work worth a sh*t on turbo DSMs because they're some 'specific type', I don't care. When the day comes that I need to compile/build an exhaust system, Flowmaster will be the first company I call up for consultation in a muffler. If they can't help me, I will move onto other options out there, but I sure as hell am not going to downplay Flowmaster simply because somebody stuck a generic Flowmaster muffler on a 4G63T and it did not work as optimally as desired.

on the site, they just have the full cat-back for a 95-99 eclipse n/t. They don't make them for the turbos. Thats prolly the reason it did not sound too good on other cars.

I made a mistake by getting a DSM-performance three inch turbo back custom race exhaust, if only because I'm NOT racing and I'm running a small 16G with a ported exhaust housing.
Even with the waste gate ported, it still creeps up to 32psi at 4000rpm.
I'm sure my exhaust is great, but it does need a proper waste gate.
With that said, I'll bet a Flowmaster 60series would provide the restriction and mellow sound I want...never thought I'd be trying to dail UP the backpressure though.

Aright, im not sure if this was already stated in other words or not but I have a 1990 GS-t With a custom 3" flowmaster set up. The reason for this was that I didnt want to sound like a ####ing Honda and I'll admit, the car does sound good, its not too loud but it growls(when it runs) the only problem with Flowmasters and Turbo's is that they dont mix, Flowmaster set up's are meant for pulse type exhaust flows, turbo's dont have pulse type exhaust flows and therefore, the performance gets dragged down, not to mention the sound at WOT and full spool isnt as good as normal driving and engine speeds. In my opinion. Good idea if you want a mellow sound, but not a good idea for performance
