I searched and came up with a thread of where a guy had the same problem, but his was grounding on a intercooler pipe. I don't have my FMIC piped like that, mine is through the stock route. I was wondering if it is possible that it could be grounding somewhere else or is there a different sending unit for the light on the dash because I tried disconnecting the oil pressure sending unit and the flickering still didn't quit. This just started a little while ago, as soon as I drove the car into my garage. I live on a long, bumpy dirt road do you think that something just might have came a little loose? I would appreciate any advice because I need to find out ASAP. Thanks

There are two sensors. One for the light and one for the gauge. If the light is flickering, your oil pressure is either fluxuating or you have a bad sending unit (most likely). They are cheap, so get a new sender, for the light. Its is small and has one spade connector that you push on to it. The pressure sender is about 2-3" round and has a little circle that you slide a connector on to. Experiment with a friend pulling wires off the filter housing to you know which one for sure.

Sounds like you have a short to ground. The only way i know how to fix it is to find a wiring diagram of the oil pressure sending unit. Once you have a print out you work your way up the schematic. Since you pulled the connector directly off the oil pressure sending unit you know the short is before that point in the circuit. When looking at the diagram try to find another connector. If there is more than one connector after the oil pressure sending unit connector try to disconnect the easiest one to find. Do this until the light goes completely out. You know now that the short is between that point and the connector on the sending unit. from this point you must trace the wires until you find what your looking for, which will most likely be where copper is directly showing threw the wire. Almost like the wire has been rubbed for so long the coating has deteriorated.

Of course it wouldn't hurt to test to make sure your oil pressure is good first. I'm sure it will be fine, but never hurts to check easier stuff first. Ripping apart wiring harnesses is no fun.

P.S. check the connectors for signs of wear/ corrosion whatever might find its way in between the pins.

I went down into the garage and was feeling around, is the sender for the light up close to the oil filter? That is where I think I felt the wire lead to. I know it isn't the oil pressure unit because I took that off and checked if that was it before I even posted on here :thumb:.

Did you check your oil pressure while it was blinking? Was your idle low when it was flickering?
It's most likely your sender is loose or corroded.

Yes I checked the oil pressure and its a little high (I think It has just a little too much oil in it), and I checked my oil also.
No my Idle isn't low its always idleing high and it was in the norm today when it was happening (close to 1500-1800 rpm)
Also I have an aftermarket oil PSI gauge and the sender unit still looks pretty good and clean since I really don't drive the car much.

Thanks for the help everybody. I just hope its a bad light sender.

I actually have a very similar infrequent problem with the oil light as well. You mentioned that you drive on a bumpy road, and I also sometimes have this problem when riding over bumps. The problem is very infrequent maybe once every 2 months I will catch it. The oil pressure is fine when it happens, and I checked the oil level as soon as I got home which was fine. I don't know if it helps, but maybe it has something to do with it.

I've got the 90 style filter housing on mine so I can't remember off hand where the sensor is on the stock 2G. But if you know which one is the sender for the pressure, then its the only other sensor in the filter housing. About one inch in diameter, looks like a 12 point socket would fit it, but its a special socket, and it has on spade coming out that the wire slips on to.

Thanks I appreciate the help. I will try to get a better look at it today and see if I can go get another one of those senders. I guess I could probably try using some contact cleaner on it and making sure its clean and hooked on to the spade good. Thanks again for the help.

Im thinking that it might have something to do with it because every now and then things come loose because of that stupid road (and I only drive like 3 MPH on it). I will lift the car up and check things out later on today. Thanks for the input.
